Makszim Dmitrovich Krat Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship student from Ukraine has been dedicated to get admitted to Széchenyi István University, and has taken advantage of the institution's free language courses to learn English and continue his studies here. The young man, who came to Hungary with his family to escape the war, quickly grew to love Győr, where he found a home with his loved ones.

Several employees of Széchenyi István University, a former student, and cooperation partners received awards from the state and the Győr administration on the occasion of the national holiday on March 15th.
Dr Bihari Mihály, a jurist, Doctor of Political Science, Professor Emeritus of Széchenyi István University, and former President of the Constitutional Court, received the Széchenyi Award for his outstanding role in establishing Hungarian political science education, significant contributions in the fields of science, teaching, and educational administration, as well as for his foundational role in organizing Law Education at the university level in Győr.
In a dignified ceremony, Széchenyi István University commemorated the events of the 1848–49 Revolution and War of Independence. During the event, doctoral degrees were conferred, and prestigious awards were presented to individuals whose work has significantly contributed to the development of the institution.
The University Library and Archives of Széchenyi István University, which turns 50 this year, is constantly developing and expanding its services. In line with the University's strategic goals, it supports academic research and international achievements, and creates a community space for university citizens. As a result, the number of database users doubled in 2023 and the number of participants in the publication support programme increased tenfold in two years.
Defining a framework for teaching arts and culture was the theme of the UNESCO World Conference on Arts and Culture in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, in February. Dr Krisztina Somogyi, associate professor at Széchenyi István University, attended the event as a delegate of the World Federation of Architects and argued for the introduction of built environment education into public education at an international level.
The role of industry 4.0 and industry 5.0, modern technologies and their incorporation into education, and the innovative activities of Széchenyi István University were in focus during a programme on the Győr campus on 6 March. In the framework of the national Smart Manufacturing Festival not only the Innovation Park in Győr, but also the laboratories of the institution were opened to the public.
Széchenyi István University and the Polish agricultural company Primavega signed a cooperation agreement on 27 February. Besides the research, development and innovation partnerships, the company, a leader in precision farming, offers students of the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty of Mosonmagyaróvár University the opportunity to work in various production units.
Industry 5.0 innovation and technological transition as well as industrial upgrading is the theme of the programme of Széchenyi István University, which is organised within the framework of the Smart Manufacturing Festival, a tradition-creating event on the campus of the University of Győr and in the former biscuit factory, the Győr Innovation Park. On 6 March, visitors will be able to take a look at the world of digitalisation innovations through exciting presentations and lab visits.
The series of graduation ceremonies at Széchenyi István University continued on 23 February. In the morning, 123 students received their degrees at the joint ceremony of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering and the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Mosonmagyaróvár and in the afternoon 219 students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, as well as 240 students of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics accepted their degrees.
Ahmad Faishal Wiradisuria has been chosen as International Student of the Year at Széchenyi István University during the University Awards Gala held in January at the Győr Media Ball. The young Indonesian received exceptional motivation from receiving the award, which encourages him to make further efforts in his studies.
SZEppelin, the student team representing Széchenyi István University and its SZESAT Interdisciplinary Specialized College, won first place in the Lajos Nagy University Telecommunications Construction Memorial Competition. The young people have designed a carbon-neutral measuring airship to modernise the measurements of mobile telecommunications companies and increase cost-efficiency.
Bálint Kovács, a student of Technical Management at Széchenyi István University, excelling in the world of the Hungarian motorsport, will compete in the German Championship and the Endurance World Championship in the new season as well. His team, the H-Moto Team, from now on also known as Uni Győr, has been strengthened by the arrival of young riders who will also be competing internationally.
The Széchenyi István University pays special attention to contribute in an innovative way to novel solutions of industry and to the answers to transport challenges. Thanks to an EU project, the institution's road construction laboratory has recently been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, which will expand the range of services provided to corporate partners and allow for further improvement of the quality of training.
The Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People is very important for Széchenyi István University, where almost twenty students are studying under this programme, said Tristan Azbej, State Secretary responsible for programmes to help persecuted Christians, at a meeting with representatives of the institution.
Jeroen Vergeylen, Belgium's Ambassador to Hungary, who visited the Győr campus on 7 February, sees several areas of cooperation with Széchenyi István University. The diplomat spoke positively about the development of the institution and the quality of its infrastructure.
Kristóf Klausz, a student of mechanical engineering at Széchenyi István University, has been competing in the R5/Rally2 category since 2010, and from 2019 he has been competing in the R5/Rally2 category, aiming to win the national rally championship this year. The talented student is also assisted by two research engineers from the university: Máté Kapocsi and László Orova, who are also involved in the preparation, assembly and transport of the competition vehicle. The cooperation between the young professionals who have trained in the institution's Formula Student team and the pilot, shows that engineering education in Győr is closely linked to motorsport.
The faculty members of the Ferenc Deák Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Széchenyi István University recently shared their pedagogical and methodological experiences at a unique professional day. The programme was part of a European Union project aimed at strengthening the links between education and economic needs, as well as educational innovation.
The Association of Transport Sciences held its annual awards ceremony on 1 February in Budapest, where members of the Association for outstanding performance were presented with awards by János Fónagy, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and President of the Association.
The National Financial Case Study Competition (OPEV in short in Hungarian) is one of Hungary’s most traditional competitions of this kind, which was organized for the 22nd time this year by Kautz Gyula Specialized College for Economics of Széchenyi István University.
