Thirty talented young people from seventeen countries have arrived in Győr for the Audi Development Camp, the joint summer programme of Széchenyi István University and Audi Hungaria. During the programme, which runs from 20 to 27 July, participants work in international teams on a real robotics challenge provided by the company, while gaining insight into modern engineering development processes with the support of experienced mentors.

The Audi Development Camp, a joint initiative of Széchenyi István University and its largest corporate partner, Audi Hungaria, officially began with an opening ceremony held at the University’s Győr Innovation Park. This unique programme, now organised for the sixth time, welcomed thirty students selected through a multi-stage admission process. The participants represent eighteen universities from seventeen countries, including China, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Türkiye.

This year’s camp focuses on robotics and programming. Working in interdisciplinary teams, the students are tasked with developing innovative solutions to an industrial robotics challenge defined by Audi Hungaria. Throughout the eight-day programme, three University mentors and one corporate mentor provide continuous guidance. As a result, participants not only acquire up-to-date technical knowledge but also gain valuable experience in international teamwork and project-based problem-solving.

At the opening ceremony, Dr Tamás Kolossváry, Head of the Győr Innovation Park at Széchenyi István University, highlighted that the Audi Development Camp is one of the flagship initiatives of the more than 30-year partnership between the University and the company. "We designed the programme to simultaneously develop technological expertise, collaboration and communication skills, as well as the capabilities essential in today’s engineering labour market," he said.

Dr Gábor Dogossy, Dean of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Engineering, emphasised that the participating students had arrived from many outstanding universities around the world, bringing with them a wide range of professional knowledge and experience. "The participants’ diverse academic backgrounds, different cultures and perspectives are among the greatest strengths of this camp. I therefore encourage everyone to make the most of the opportunities offered by this international environment: learn not only from the lecturers and mentors, but also from one another," he advised.

Dr Zoltán Dobra, Head of Plant Steering-Car Manufacturing at Audi Hungaria’s Vehicle Production Division, then pointed out that one of the greatest advantages of the cooperation between the University and the company is the opportunity for mutual learning and development. "All participants in this camp are highly talented students who will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice throughout the programme. Győr is a city of encounters, and I hope that during the coming week everyone will demonstrate their knowledge, creativity and experience through the many opportunities for interactions that lie ahead, as we are also keen to see how the next generation approaches the solution of an industrial challenge," he stated.

As in previous years, the professional programme is complemented by community-building events, providing opportunities for students from different parts of the world to get to know one another’s cultures alongside their joint work. In this way, the Audi Development Camp offers both a high-quality professional development experience and the opportunity to become part of an international community environment, while further strengthening the long-term strategic partnership between Széchenyi István University and Audi Hungaria.
