Approximately 500 graduates of the Apáczai Csere János Faculty of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences at Széchenyi István University received their degrees at two graduation ceremonies held on 16 July in the Győr University Sports Hall. During the events, students were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to the University community.

In his welcome address, Dr Attila Pongrácz, Dean of the Faculty, noted that throughout the 248 years since its establishment in 1778, the core mission of teacher education in Győr has been the cultivation of human values. "Today, our portfolio includes nine bachelor’s programmes, among them International Relations and Sociology, both available in English; five master’s programmes, including the Human Resource Counselling programme launched in English; as well as more than twenty postgraduate specialist education programmes," he said. He added that value transfer and innovation are the twin pillars of the University’s educational mission. The Dean congratulated the graduates on successfully overcoming the challenges of their studies and concluded by greeting the international students in English.

On behalf of the graduating class, Kíra Kamilla Tankó and Mariia Remizova delivered farewell speeches at the morning ceremony, while Sarolta Mária Szabó addressed the audience at the afternoon ceremony. The events were enriched by performances from students of the Dance and Visual Arts Primary School, Vocational Secondary School and Dormitory, maintained by Széchenyi István University.

The ceremonies also included the presentation of Student Union awards. The “Lecturer for Students” Award was presented to Dr Orsolya Zábrádi Dőryné in recognition of her outstanding contribution to teaching. The Pro Progressum commemorative certificate was awarded to Edina Eisenhoffer, an undergraduate student of International Studies and member of the Arrabona Racing Team.

The Pro Auditoribus certificate was awarded to Attila Kiss (International Studies), Borbála Illy, Klaudia Pimper and Anna Szukop (Special Needs Education), Áron Gábor Pölöskei-Ember (Community Organisation), and Krisztián Antal, Bence Szabó and Sarolta Mária Szabó (Recreation Management and Health Promotion). Kíra Kamilla Tankó, a Primary Education student, received the Pro Auditoribus Bronze distinction, while Milán István Malomsoki, an undergraduate student of Recreation Management and Health Promotion, received the Pro Auditoribus Silver distinction.

The two ceremonies concluded with the presentation of diplomas and the graduates’ formal oath.
