SZE has entered into partnership with the Institute of Urban Sciences of the University of Seoul

The Vehicle Research Centre of Széchenyi István University and the Institute of Urban Sciences of the University of Seoul have concluded a cooperation agreement. As a result of this joint researches, publications, exchange visits can help the two institutions to further develop in the future.

Széchenyi István University intends to develop its educational and research activities by expanding its international relations, thus contributing to the competitiveness of the region. As a further step in this effort the Vehicle Research Centre of the institution has concluded a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Urban Sciences of the University of Seoul. The document states that the two parties have a mutual interest in the promotion of scientific relations, and they will participate in the exchange of professors, researchers, students, joint research activities and publications in order to facilitate this.

During the discussion preceding the official signing ceremony, professor dr. Friedler Ferenc, the Rector and Vice-president for Academic Affairs of Széchenyi István University said that Széchenyi István University is one of the outstanding higher education institutions in Hungary considering its researches, organisational operation, financial resources and infrastructure. 

‘We are interested in long-term scientific cooperation’, he said.

He also added that besides professional aspects three other factors - South Korea’s impressive post-war development, the work culture of the Korean society and our traditional interest in the East - make this partnership extremely gratifying.

The educational-research portfolio related to the technological and engineering fields of Széchenyi István University and its talent management system based on student teams were presented by professor dr. Dogossy Gábor, dean of Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering, dr. Horváth Balázs, dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences, and professor dr. Horváth Zoltán, dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Informatics and Electrical Engineering, as well as dr. Fodor Dénes, vice-dean of Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering, head of the Department of Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, scientific leader of the e-Mobility Centre of the Vehicle Research Centre to the guests.

It became clear from the words of dr. Kang Su Kim, the Director of the Institute of Urban Sciences of the University of Seoul and his colleagues, Jincheol Lee, dr. Seungjae Lee, prof. dr. Yun Soo Choi and Sora Kim that the University of Seoul, which was established more than a hundred years ago, is highly competitive, it is one of the best higher education institutions of South Korea that has an excellent research infrastructure. The unique Institute of Urban Sciences with its eight departments covers a wide range of fields from architecture, landscape architecture and transport sciences to geoinformatics.

Following the signature of the cooperation agreement, the Korean guests got to know the developed infrastructure of the Győr campus, visited the Building Materials and Structural Testing Laboratory, the Archistudios Building, and the garage of the SZEnergy Team, the student team which won the world’s greatest energy efficiency competition, the Shell Eco Marathon with a world record last year. Their programme concluded with a visit at the ZalaZONE, the world’s most modern automotive test track in Zalaegerszeg owned by the Foundation for Széchenyi István University sustaining Széchenyi University, and a sightseeing tour in Győr.

The guests also visited the ZalaZONE automotive test track owned by the foundation sustaining Széchenyi István University.
