ADVENT CANDLE-LIGHTING AT THE UNIVERSITY
On Monday, 2 December 2019, members of the University’s chaplaincy service together with around sixty members of the student body , held a candle-lighting ceremony to mark the beginning of the Advent season.
After a seasonal contribution by a small group of musicians, the Catholic chaplain, Father Gábor Kaposi, gave a short homily and said prayers. Rev. Mária Bogdányi, Lutheran chaplain and a member of the Reformed Church community also followed up with prayers. The first of the four Advent candles was lit. The other 3 candles will be lit one by one each week of Advent.
Following the short ceremony, all were invited to Saint László Catholic Hall of Residence for mulled wine and snacks. Young Christian Scholarship students, who were among participants at the Advent ceremony, were made especially welcome by Széchenyi students from the Hall of Residence.
