April is here, SZEN is here: the festival season starts at Széchenyi István University
In two weeks' time, on 15 April, the Széchenyi István University will launch the biggest student event of the spring, the Széchenyi University Days. The event will feature sports programmes, games and performances, but the main focus will be on entertainment, with Valmar, WellHello, Follow The Flow and AWS among the bands performing at the festival.
In the annual schedule of the University, Széchenyi University Days are held on the 11th week of the spring semester, when the main focus besides learning is on entertainment on the campus of the institution in Győr.
Over the last decade, the event has grown from a student day to a real festival, the first major event of its kind in the country, taking into account similar programmes at other institutions.

This year, the Bridge Student and Teacher Club will once again host a number of popular national bands, with Valmar, WellHello, Follow The Flow and AWS being the top names. After the concerts, DJs such as Viktória Metzker, Pixa and Begi Lotfi will be behind the stand. Interestingly, following the great success of the last years, this time the audience will be able to try the silent disco on two nights, where the headphones will offer a choice of six channels for those who want to experience something special.
"We've tried to please everyone in our choice of performers, and everyone will find the right artists to suit their tastes. The best DJs of the Hungarian nightlife will visit us every night, and we have also thought of rock and retro music fans," said Péter Németh-Bende, manager of Bridge Student and Teacher Club.

Experience shows that it is not only the music and dance events that attract students, but also the daytime activities and sports facilities. During these few days, young people can try out popular sports on campus, which is an extra motivation for them to complete their physical education courses. To give you a taste of the menu, the final of the football SZE Cup is scheduled for the university days, and you can also go in a dragon boat or run in Bishop's Forest. And on Tuesday, the SZESE e-Sports department will hold an open day in the university's main hall, where the public will be able to try out car simulators as well as various games.
Dávid Vályi Nagy, President of the University Student Council, explained that in addition to the traditional events (such as teddy bear making or the beer pong tournament), which are recurring every year, they have prepared several new activities this year.
"The SZEDerby car skills competition was the emblematic event of the Faculty Days, which this time will be organised in the framework of the SZEN. In view of the great success in autumn, we are once again bringing the flavours of different nations to the students: our international students from all over the world will present their own cuisine in the lobby. We are also delighted that this year we will be joined once again by Barna Baranyai, an alumni of our university, an up-and-coming comedian, who will be presenting his own evening show about trash and memes", said the President.
Thanks to the National Film Institute, a special film club will also take place on the Tuesday of the University Days, as after the screening of the film "Nemzet aranya" (The Gold of the Nation) about the legendary water polo team, led by Dénes Kemény, the audience will have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers and talk to some members of the team.
"We are also preparing a groundbreaking programme, in the framework of which students can present their opinions on any topic concerning Széchenyi István University, reflect on problems and discuss possible solutions. The World Café is a worldwide known creative methodology, through which the community itself develops. The ideas generated during the discussion will also be addressed by the university's management, so if you want to contribute to improving student life, don't miss this forum", said Dávid Vályi Nagy.
