Bálint Kovács, a student of SZE, prepared for the 24 Hours of Le Mans motorcycle race

The H-Moto Team rider has put the finishing touches to his preparation as the member of the Slovakian Maco Racing Team in Le Mans, France, where the 2023 World Endurance Championship kicks off this weekend with the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 21-year-old rider and his team are ready for the EWC World Championship race that starts on 15 April.

Bálint Kovács, a student at Széchenyi István University, has finished his preparations for this year's Endurance World Championship (EWC), which starts this weekend. The H-Moto Team rider will compete in all European races of the EWC in the Superbike category as a permanent member of the Maco Racing Team.

Bálint has already passed several tests this year with the Slovak team and his Yamaha bike. On the one hand, he tested for six days in Spain a few weeks ago, and a few days ago he took part in the official test of the 24 Hours of Le Mans World Championship race on 15-16 April with the Maco Racing Team. At the beginning of the week they had a private practice session, where the three-man team was already together: Bálint, Enzo Boulom and Anthony West.  They gathered a lot of useful information at the venue of this year's first World Championship race, where they made a lot of progress, especially in the wet set-up.

"The weather was quite chaotic during the last unofficial practice before the race. In the morning we were mainly tasked with running in the race bike, where the three of us were able to do about five or so fast laps.. We wanted to try the dry settings in the afternoon, but as soon as we rolled onto the track the sky fell. We switched immediately, so we were on the wet set-up the whole time and we made a lot of progress in that area. We're ready for the big run. From now on,  every single metre we drive on the track is real.  I sincerely hope that we can achieve another great result," said Bálint Kovács.

The 21-year-old rider will be competing in the legendary 24-hour World Championship race for the third time. On Thursday, the first time trial will take place from 17.00 pm, followed by a free practice session and a night practice session from 8.30 pm. On Friday, the second qualifying session will start at 11.50 am, followed by the first EWC World Championship race on Saturday at 15.00 pm, after a morning warm-up session.
