Data Science Students at SZE Achieve Major Success

For the past three years, the Széll Kálmán Residential College of Economics and Data Science at Széchenyi István University has been fostering an academic forum that provides students with an inspiring environment, a valuable network of contacts, in-depth knowledge, and limitless opportunities. Over the past year, members of this talent development community have achieved remarkable results, including earning top placements at the Scientific Student’s Associations Conference (TDK) and publishing their research.

A distinctive feature of the Széll Kálmán Residential College of Economics and Data Science is its English-speaking environment. This not only enhances language skills but also provides its members with a global perspective. "This enables students to engage in international research projects, participate confidently in international conferences, and publish in prestigious academic journals. Such advantages greatly enhance their future professional and academic careers," said Dr László Buics, Director of the College.

He further noted that the College’s growing international community creates opportunities for Hungarian and foreign students to collaborate on diverse research projects, share experiences, and develop innovative solutions to challenges in economics and data science. This multicultural environment enriches academic work while fostering cultural openness, teamwork, and broad-minded thinking. Dr Buics emphasised that the College also supports personal development through research methodology lectures, skills training, foreign language and mentoring programmes.

Additionally, they have presented 24 conference papers, published eight conference papers (including two Scopus-indexed publications), and co-authored four A-category, ten Q3, five Q2, and two Q1 scientific articles.

"The College's motto is Smart Network, Deep Knowledge, Infinite Opportunities, reflecting our commitment to welcoming anyone who seeks to gain deeper knowledge, discover new opportunities, and build valuable relationships. We offer both bachelor’s and master’s students the chance to engage in exciting research, present at international conferences, and contribute to their personal and community success through scientific publications," concludes Dr László Buics. He added that the College can be contacted via email at szellkalman@sze.hu, as well as through their website, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The application form is available here.
