Our programme is aimed at people who want to learn how to run and manage an international business. To understand the national and international economy and economic processes and actors, the rules of international transport and international finance and to understand the basic functions, determinants and objectives of economic policy, foreign trade processes, foreign economic policy and the functioning of the European Union.
Structure of studies
The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 180 + 60 credits. 1 credit equals one ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.
Language requirements
TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.
If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Bachelor's programme is automatic.

Programme educational objectives:
The International Business Economics BSc programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to train graduates who are capable of handling negotiations at a high level, in Hungarian and in foreign languages, who are capable of performing and managing international business activities in possession of their economic and applied economics studies. They are prepared to continue their training at the master’s level. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:
PEO#1: Graduates will master the basic concepts, theories, facts and interconnections of the national and international economy regarding the relevant economic actors, functions and processes.
PEO#2: Graduates will able to formulate independent decision-preparation suggestions in an oral or written form, in Hungarian or in foreign languages, according to the rules of professional communication. They will take responsibility for analyses, conclusions, and decisions made.
PEO#3: Students will stay updated with contemporary changes and engage in lifelong learning. They will be open to new information, to new professional knowledge and methodologies, and to performing new tasks and tasks that require cooperation.
PEO#4: Graduates will conduct themselves ethically, contribute to societal well-being through their
work and advance professionally in their careers.
Student Outcomes:
The student outcomes (SOs) of our programme represent the skills, knowledge and behaviours that our curriculum aims to impart to our students. The International Business Economic BSc programme defines six SOs (1) to (6) to guide student development as follows:
1. Students will master the basic theories and characteristics of the micro and macro levels of economy and possess the basic information gathering, mathematical and statistical analytic methods.
2. Graduates will understand the basics of the international freight and international financial processes. They will be able to use analytic and modelling methods, which can underpin their decision making process in an international environment.
3. Graduates will understand the basic functions and goals of economic policies, international trade processes, and foreign economic policy. They has the necessary knowledge about the functioning of the European Union and the other regions of the world economy.
4. Students know the basis of other fields related to international business (legal, land development, education)
5. Students will be able to plan and organise business activities and projects, to manage and control small enterprises and businesses.
6. Graduates will be familiar with IT and office automation tools that support the operation of organisations and economic processes.
7. Graduates will know the rules and ethical norms of cooperation in a project, team, work organisation, and of managing projects.
Job opportunities:
Graduates in International Business Economics can find employment practically in all areas of domestic and international companies and fill middle and senior management positions. Their advanced language skills and understanding of economics also make it easy for them to work abroad (or for international companies operating in Hungary). The diploma obtained is recognised as equivalent in the European Union.
