Exhibition of photos by Dániel Havasi

The exhibition of photographer-videographer Dániel Havasi’s work will open on Thursday, 26 May 2022, at 11:00 and will remain exhibited on the gallery of the Aula at Széchenyi István University until the end of June.

'Inspired by two-way migration, the photographs by Dániel Havasi were taken between 2011 and 2020 in 21 countries around the world, including Western Europe, post-Soviet countries, North America, the Holy Land, Japan, Iran, the Maghreb region and the southern border of Hungary during the 2015 refugee crisis.'

The majority of the exhibits are documentary or social photographs and street portraits or (in the case of photos taken on the southern border of Hungary) photo reportage.

Dániel Havasi works with both still and moving images. In 2020, after returning from Japan, he compiled an album of his images, entitled Alulnézet ('Bottom-up view'), edited by the photographer Örs Harnóczy. At that time, only the outcome of the Covid pandemic was in question, but photographs in the album also contain some pictorial foreshadowing of the turbulent processes that are now defining the world.
