Guest professors, staff members and athletes affiliated with partner teams will soon be able to take possession of the Famulus Apartment House, newly developed by Széchenyi István University. The modern, fully furnished residential units offer high-quality accommodation under favourable conditions, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the institution’s international appeal.

Széchenyi István University aims to create an environment for its students, lecturers and staff that supports high-quality teaching and research, as well as everyday work. The continuous development of the institution’s service portfolio forms a key part of this effort, with particular focus on strengthening international relations and hosting guest professors. It is in this spirit that the University’s Famulus Apartment House is being realised.

“We are committed to providing services for our community that contribute to the University’s domestic and international competitiveness, and to strengthening our community. High-quality housing opportunities play a key role in attracting and retaining excellent professionals in the long term, who will soon be able to move into the renovated, comfortable residential units of the Famulus Apartment House,” said Gergő Lőrincz, the institution’s Director of Services and Brand. He highlighted that the new accommodation option will be available to the University’s staff members, guest professors, and athletes of sports clubs in strategic partnership with the institution, under more favourable conditions than market rental prices.

The investment has been carried out on the University’s own property, next to Hotel Famulus and the Árkád shopping centre, and construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of April. A total of 27 fully furnished residential units have been created in the apartment house, each equipped with its own bathroom and kitchen. Half of the units consists of single-space studio apartments ideal for up to two people, alongside one-bedroom flats with a living room, and two-bedroom apartments with a living room. The latter provide suitable accommodation for couples or families.

The apartment house is located just a one-minute walk from Hotel Famulus, allowing residents to use certain services of the hotel – such as breakfast. In the long term, the development contributes to the University’s strategic objectives: it creates new opportunities for staff, supports the arrival of athletes and international professionals, and further enhances the institution’s attractiveness within both the Hungarian and international higher education landscape.
