The International University Sports Federation (FISU) hosted the University Finswimming World Championships in Pereira, Colombia, at the end of April. Hungary was represented at the event by two youngsters, including Ádám Bukor, a student of the Széchenyi István University, a competitor of the Győr Diving Club. The athlete has already won eight world championship titles in his career and was also voted University Athlete of the Year. This time, he added to his medal collection a silver medal in the 100m surface swimming.

"On the one hand, I'm not completely satisfied because I went to Colombia for three gold medals, but at the same time I gave everything I had. The 100m and 400m swims were held on the same day and already in the morning, in the 100m preliminaries, I felt that I was moving harder than I expected. Because of this, I let the 400m final slip a bit to concentrate on the other event, in which I ended up finishing second. By the 200m race I was feeling very exhausted, but I still managed to finish fourth," recalled the athlete, who said that the difficulties were largely due to a lack of acclimatisation, which meant he hardly slept during the race.

Ádám Bukor - who has been serving in the Hungarian Defence Forces for a month - is competing in Kecskemét and Vienna this month, which will be good preparation for the World Championships in Belgrade in July, where he is travelling with big goals. "We want to defend our world title in the 200m surface relay, but we also want to win the 100m. In the 100m individual event, I hope to reach the final and qualify for next year's World Games in China," said Ádám Bukor, who thanked Széchenyi University and the Hungarian University Sports Association for their support, which enabled him to go to the World University Championships in Colombia.

Lilla Blaszák (Neumann János University) and Ádám Bukor (Széchenyi István University) represented Hungary at the University Finswimming World Championships in Colombia.
