High-Level Knowledge Carried by Fresh Graduates of the Faculty of Arts at SZE

Nearly one hundred students earned their degrees from the Faculty of Arts at Széchenyi István University this year. The music graduates, and for the first time in the institution's history, the design graduates, received their degree certificates at the ceremony on 12th July.

Following the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty's graduation ceremony, the Faculty of Arts also held two diploma award ceremonies – one for the music graduates and one for the graduates of the design course - who started their studies in September 2021.

“Everyone has enough in their ‘knapsack’ to confidently move on to the next step, or to knock on the doors of music schools, orchestras and choirs. Remember, while the years of study have flown by, learning remains a fundamental part of your life – whether as graduate students, artists, or teachers,” said Dr Csaba Hontvári, Dean of the Faculty, addressing the fresh music graduates. At the design graduates' ceremony, he recalled that the university launched its programmes in architecture, industrial design, and graphic design in September 2021, and due to the institution's support, the conditions for education have continuously improved. Today, the Design Campus is housed in the Győr Innovation Park, inaugurated last year.

Awards were also presented at the events. For their outstanding community activities, the Pro Auditoribus bronze award was given to Zsombor Gellért Szűcs, the certificate of merit to Veronika Varga, Janka Júlia Kürtösi, and Bálint Marton, and commemorative certificates to Áron Magó, Evelin Bécsi, Ivett Szentgyörgyvári, and Flóra Tamási. For the best diploma recital and comprehensive exam, Blanka Nagy (instrumental artist master's programme, specialised in classical piano artist) and Benedek Bogáthy (performing arts undergraduate programme, specialised in classical percussion artist) were awarded. For the best diploma teaching, Szimóna Mezei (undivided music teacher program, specialised in piano teacher) and Gabrielle Huszti (music artist teacher program, specialised in violin artist teacher ) earned a special award, while the best diploma thesis awards went to Tihamér Kovács (undivided music teacher master's program, specialised in guitar teacher) and Borbála Zita Vásárhelyi (undivided music teacher master's program, specialised in violin teacher).

In honor of the renowned Hungarian violin maker, István Kónya, his son and grandson, Lajos Kónya Sr. and Lajos Kónya Jr., established an award in 2015. The founders reward a talented string instrument student from the Faculty of Arts at Széchenyi István University who has demonstrated excellent academic performance during the academic year. The award was won by Kata Apró, a graduate in the classical cello performance specialization of the performing arts undergraduate programme.

The "Teachers for Students" award was received by graphic designer Ferenc Barka.
