Hungarian Champions and Champions League Winners Győri Audi ETO KC Thank Supporters at SZE

Győri Audi ETO KC, having completed a fantastic season, held its end-of-year partner event at Széchenyi István University’s Győr Innovation Park on 3 June. After winning the Hungarian championship, the women's handball team also triumphed in the Champions League Final4, reclaiming their position at the top of European handball.

Győri Audi ETO KC can look back on a memorable season, having secured both the Hungarian championship and the Champions League title. The Győr team finished top of their CL group, delivered an outstanding performance in the quarter-finals, and successfully defended their title at the Budapest Final4 without falling behind for a single moment across the two matches. In the semi-final, they achieved their tenth consecutive win against the Danish Esbjerg (29–28), and in the final they secured an even more confident victory over another Danish team, Odense. Although the final score was 29–27, ETO led by four or five goals for most of the match. Team captain Kari Brattset Dale was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The club’s leadership, team and staff celebrated the outstanding season with their supporters on 2 June at the Audi Arena. The following day, they expressed their gratitude to partners during the event held at Széchenyi István University’s Győr Innovation Park.

At the event, Péter Endrődi, Managing Director of Győri ETO Kft., which operates the team, stated that together with head coach Per Johansson, they defined the framework for how they live their everyday and celebratory moments. He emphasised that within this framework, safety—provided by the club’s supporters—is of paramount importance. “We’ve been through a tough season, as we practically had to build a new team. Although there were doubters, with ETO’s trademark faith, hard work and team spirit, we managed to win both titles,” he stressed. He added that the success was largely due to the strong sense of unity that characterises the green and white team.

“It is no coincidence that we are holding our joint celebration in the building of Széchenyi István University, as we maintain a close partnership with this key knowledge centre in the region. This collaboration spans numerous areas and, among other things, enables young people to harmonise sport and studies. The University’s Győr Innovation Park is a key venue for corporate collaboration and provides a fitting setting in which to express our gratitude to our supporters, who have played a major role in our success. We are proud to have the University alongside us,” Péter Endrődi told us.

During the event, two young players, Polett Rédecsi and Evelin Szár, received their championship gold medals from Managing Director Endrődi and Győri ETO KC President Anita Görbicz, having missed out earlier. Symbolic gestures of gratitude were made with the Hungarian championship gold, Champions League gold, and Hungarian Cup silver medals presented to the club’s two title sponsors. The medals were accepted by Mayor Bence Pintér on behalf of Győr City Council, and by Péter Lőre, Head of Communications, on behalf of Audi Hungaria. Appreciation was also extended to the local supporter community for their year-long support, with Ferenc Menyhárt, president of the supporters’ association, accepting the medals on their behalf. Finally, the club bid farewell to two departing players, Ryu Eun Hee and Alexa Győri.
