International and national successes achieved by the students of SZE’s Data Science College
The students of Széchenyi István University's Széll Kálmán Specialized College of Economics and Data Sciences have recently achieved several significant successes. Some of them have reached the finals of prestigious international case study competitions, while others have collected prizes at the Students' Scientific Conference. On the latter occasion, the College's programme director was awarded the prize for the most successful supervisor.
Széchenyi University’s Széll Kálmán Specialized College of Economics and Data Sciences has been building a unique community which provides outstanding development opportunities for students interested in scientific research. Its aim is to ensure that in the future there will be more professionals with a wide range of tools in this discipline who can carry out research at a high level, contributing to the development of data-intensive industries.
Three members of the specialized college, Laura Vas and Szabolcs Horváth, Law students and Bendegúz Kraus, a student majoring in Business Administration and Management were in the finals of Modul Business Championship, an international case study competition in May, organised jointly by Modul University and Mathias Corvinus Collegium at the University of Vienna.
“Several teams participated in the pre-selection from Hungary and the surrounding countries. It was a huge achievement to qualify for the finals as newcomers and compete against experienced teams. Our students have gained a lot of experience, built contacts and are already ready for the next competition, where they can compete again”, said Dr. László Buics, Programme Director of the specialized college.

The students of the specialized college also excelled at this year's Széchenyi University Students’ Scientific Conference (abbreviated as TDK in Hungarian), where a record 15 young people from the specialized college participated, six of whom won prizes, thus collecting five more National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference nominations (abbreviated as OTDK in Hungarian). It is no coincidence that Dr. László Buics was awarded the prize for the most successful supervisor at the University Talent Day.

"This year we will represent the university at three more international conferences organised in Hungary with several of our publications. Of course we are preparing for the upcoming Students’ Scientific Conference and National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference”, said the programme director. He added that they keep welcoming applications from undergraduate and master's students from any faculty or degree programme who would like to participate in exciting research, international conferences and case study competitions. "Building on these, excellent TDK theses, dissertations and publications can be created, launching the scientific and professional activities of the students, for which Széll Kálmán Specialized College provides all the support to its members", he underlined.
