INTERNATIONAL DINNER, AUTUMN SEMESTER 2019

On 22nd October 2019, the Students’ Union of Széchenyi István University (EHÖK) with the support of  the Stipendium Hungaricum Mentor Network and the Erasmus Student Network, Győr, organised an International Dinner involving over one hundred participants, the majority consisting of international students but also involving Hungarians. The main goal of such events is the promotion of international student integration. In addition, Hungarian students  have the chance to be introduced to elements of other cultures and to sample different culinary specialities from around the world.

Teams of international students representing the cuisines of Mexico, Spain, China, India-Pakistan, North Africa-Middle East, Iraq, Syria, Morocco and Arab Nations spent the late afternoon preparing and cooking their dishes in the University canteen kitchen.

During the event, Ms Ildikó Nagy, a colleague from the Centre of International Programmes, gave a presentation for Hungarian students interested in participating in ERASMUS mobility programmes. Following the information session, the Hungarian students joined the international students participating in the International Dinner.

 

 

When all the food had been prepared, students were invited to sample each other’s cuisines. While eating, everybody had the opportunity to talk with members of other teams about their eating habits and to vote for their favourite dish. The first place went to India-Pakistan, with second and third places awarded to Arab Nations and China respectively.
