Brief description of the programme
During the programme, diverse human and economic knowledge is combined and a cross-disciplinary approach is developed. The programme is based on courses examining the operation of different types of organizations. During the training, students also get to know the processes and characteristics of the labour market, as well as HR functions such as recruitment and selection. The programme is complemented by interactive presentations by professionals and participation in HR conferences.
Structure of studies:
The total number of credits needed to complete the programme: 120 credits. Credit value assigned for the preparation of the thesis: 10 credits, minimum credit value assigned to optional courses: 10 credits.

Language requirements:
OEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.
If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Bachelor's programme is automatic.

Programme Educational Objectives:
The Human Resource Counselling MA programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for successful careers in the field of human resource management (HRM). Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:
PEO#1: The aim is to train professionals with a broad range of human and economic skills and an interdisciplinary approach.
PEO#2: Graduates will be able to carry out detailed analysis, formulate broad and specific contexts, and provide advice and evaluation in the fields of organisations, work, employment and training.
PEO#3: Graduates use their professional knowledge to support the macro-level processes of HRM, to identify specific HRM problems and to formulate practical tasks to solve them, to support individuals in making career planning decisions in the context of lifelong guidance and counselling.
PEO#4: They are always aware of current labour market conditions and organisational processes and are prepared to pursue their studies in a doctoral programme.
Student Outcomes:
Student outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that students acquire as they progress through the program.
The student outcomes (SOs) of our programme represent the skills, knowledge and behaviours that our curriculum aims to impart to our students. The Human Resource Counselling MA programme defines seven SOs (1) to (7) to guide student development as follows: (7 points needed)
- An ability to have knowledge of understanding the characteristics of organisations, their economic and social role, the connection between resources and the operation of organisations.
- An ability to know the functions, tasks and methods of HRM, the links between the current labour market situation and the market adaptation of organisations, the system of labour relations.
- An ability to play an active role in the resource management functions of organisations, to undertake development and support activities in various areas of HRM, such as recruitment, selection, training, performance management, reward management.
- An ability to identify human resource problems in organisations, and to develop an action plan and roadmap for their effective solution.
- An ability to understand the links between the level of education and career opportunities of employees, the specific interfaces between career guidance and career management.
- An ability to support individuals and groups in career planning, identify training needs and contribute to the decision-making process.
- An ability to keep abreast of new scientific developments in HRM and to apply them as needed, in a lifelong learning perspective.
Job Opportunities:
Graduates will use their knowledge to support the HRM of various organisations as strategic partners. The majority of graduates start a career at multinational companies, which offer them continuous development and advancement opportunities, or work as HR generalists in the SME sector. Others work in HR departments of public administration. Graduates also have the opportunity to set up their own businesses and act as consultants to support organisations in achieving their operational goals or individuals in their career planning decisions. In our constantly globalizing world, the obtained degree can also lay the foundation for starting an international career.
