The aim of this university-level programme is to train professionals to be able to carry out economic analytic work in an international environment and in different fields or on various levels of the economic system by acquiring a basic knowledge of international economics, micro- and macroeconomics, international politics, international law, civilization, globalization, world regions, European integration and businesses and to solve decision-making and analytic tasks independently. This knowledge will enable them to continue their studies at doctoral level.
Structure of studies
The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 120 credits. 1 credit equals one ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.
Language requirements
TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.
If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Bachelor's programme is automatic.

Programme educational objectives:
The International Economics and Business MSc programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for successful careers in the field of international economics and business. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:
PEO#1 Based on their knowledge, graduates will be able to master the concepts, processes, and characteristics of economics. They will understand the mechanisms of the micro and macro level economies.
PEO#2 Students will be able to formulate their own independent thoughts and approaches. They will be able to utilise analytic and modelling methods, which can underpin their decision making process in an international environment.
PEO#3 Graduates will conduct themselves ethically, contribute to societal well-being through their work, and advance professionally in their careers.
PEO#4 Students will stay updated with contemporary changes, and engage in lifelong learning.
Student Outcomes:
The student outcomes (SOs) of our programme represent the skills, knowledge and behaviours that our curriculum aims to impart to our students. The International Economics and Business MSc programme defines seven SOs (1) to (7) to guide student development as follows:
1. An ability to identify, formulate and solve complex problems by applying principles of economics and management.
2. Basic knowledge of international economics, micro- and macroeconomics, international politics, international law, civilization, globalization, world regions, European integration and businesses.
3. The capability to carry out economic analytic work in an international environment and in different fields or on various levels of the economic system.
4. The ability to solve decision-making and analytic tasks independently.
5. The capability to participate in domestic or international projects and group work.
6. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
7. Acquired knowledge to continue their studies at doctoral level.
Job opportunities:
The skills acquired can help the graduates in a wide range of areas, including work at multinational corporations or international organisations. Graduates can also continue their careers’ as PhD students. The diploma obtained is recognised as equivalent in the European Union.
