The programme is aimed at those who would like to work in the public or private sector of tourism as managers, researchers or employees. This programme covers the most current researches, projects and findings in economics and tourism as well as the touristic trends and developmental directions of the world.
Structure of studies
Necessary number of credits to complete the programme: 120 credits. The courses of the programme are divided into three categories: compulsory courses (95 credits), thesis courses (15 credits) and free optional courses (10 credits)
Language requirements
- TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 (issued in the last two years).
- Certificate of any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Master’s level issued by an accredited language centre/ academic institution.
- In case the student has completed his/her previous level of studies in English, proof can be uploaded about the fact that the language of instruction was English, issued by the institution.
- If the uploaded document(s) do(es) not meet the above-mentioned requirements, the University relies on an online language interview.
Professional requirements
Master studies: Bachelor’s degree relevant for the Master studies. Transcript of records of Bachelor studies.

The Tourism Management MSC programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for successful careers in the field of tourism. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:
PEO#1: Graduates will possess an understanding of the latest trends and developments in the tourism industry and apply this knowledge consciously in their professional activities.
PEO#2: Students will demonstrate effective communication skills and take on leadership roles in both the private and public sectors within the field of tourism.
PEO#3: Graduates will adopt ethical and socially conscious decision-making methods, contributing to the development of sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
PEO#4: Students will be capable of continuous self-development and lifelong learning, responding to changes and advancements in the tourism sector.

Student outcomes describe the set of skills and knowledge that students are expected to acquire by the time of graduation.
- Students will be able to identify, analyse, and solve market problems in tourism by applying economic, management, and marketing principles.
- They will be capable of developing innovative and sustainable tourism solutions, considering public health, cultural, economic, and environmental factors.
- They will be proficient in communicating and collaborating effectively with diverse audiences, including guests, industry stakeholders, and governmental agencies.
- They will recognize their professional and ethical responsibilities and make informed decisions that positively impact global and local economic, environmental, and social contexts.
- They will be able to work effectively in teams, take on leadership roles, and set and achieve strategic goals.
- They will have the ability to analyse tourism-related research, draw conclusions, and acquire and apply new knowledge as needed.
- Students will develop intercultural competence, enabling them to understand and respect cultural diversity and effectively manage tourism operations in a global context.

Graduates of the MSc in Tourism Management have access to a wide range of career opportunities. The knowledge and skills acquired in the programme enable them to work in leadership positions in the private sector, government, and non-profit organizations, tourism development, marketing, hospitality, as well as research and analytical roles. Building on their academic background, they can successfully operate internationally in the tourism sector, participate in strategic planning, and engage in project management. The diploma obtained is recognised as equivalent in the European Union.
