Mobilities during Stipendium Hungaricum granted studies

 

 

In summary:

BSc/MSc students may participate in scholarship-granted mobilities:

•          maximum 30 days, keeping their SH and mobility grants under certain conditions.

•          for more than 30 days with only losing their SH grants (including tuition fee waiver)

 

PhD students may participate in scholarship granted motilities:

•          maximum 30 days, keeping their SH and mobility grants under certain conditions.

•          once in both periods of doctoral studies for more than 30 days keeping their SH grants but without mobility grant

„…CHAPTER III: BENEFITS, RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS

III.1. Scholarship Holders’ Benefits

 

  1. If a scholarship holder receives support during the study period for the purpose of training or partial training outside Hungary, they will lose the grants received under the SH scholarship.

    As an exception, partial (exchange) studies covering maximum 1 or 2 semesters at institutions of higher education located outside of Hungary and owned (directly or indirectly) by non-profit asset management funds registered in Hungary, or at foreign higher education institutions participating in the Makovecz Scholarship Programme, under a cooperation agreement between the sending and the host institution, are exempted from this rule. The cooperation agreement must provide for – in accordance with the detailed rules set out in the Implementation Guide – an invoice-based settlement of accounts regarding the cost allowance the health care services provided for the scholarship holders, and the scholarship holders’ obligations regarding their stay in the relevant country

III.3. Further Obligations of the Scholarship Holders

  1. The scholarship holder is required to stay habitually in Hungary during the training period as follows:

 

  1. a) The scholarship holder's continuous private stay outside Hungary may not exceed 10 working days per training period.

  1. f) During the training period, the scholarship holder is allowed to attend foreign conferences, internships, or other study-related stays abroad for a maximum of 30 days, while still being entitled to the contribution to accommodation costs and the monthly stipend.

  1. h) Stay for the purpose of paragraph f) but for more than 30 days per semester shall also be permitted only once per semester, in which case the scholarship and accommodation costs shall not be due to the scholarship holder for that training period and the institution receives the cost for the semester only if the stay is in the sending country, and in the case of a non-sending country it is only possible to receive an organisation allowance.
  1. i) Scholarship holders in doctoral training may participate at student mobility abroad with the purpose of research for the duration of maximum one semester in both phase of doctoral studies. In their case the housing allowance and the monthly stipend shall be considered as mobility grants for this specified period. …”
