Brief description of the programme:
The objective of the ESG Manager master program aims to prepare graduates who can ensure compliance with sustainability obligations for business organizations and manage related corporate activities, including the high-level administration of ESG-related operations. Graduates, through the competencies they acquire, will be equipped to assume leadership roles across all sectors in the development, implementation, and operation of ESG strategies.
Structure of studies:
The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 60 credits. The courses of the programme are divided into three categories: compulsory courses, thesis courses and elective courses. 1 credit equals 1 ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.
Language requirements:
- TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 (issued in the last two years).
- Certificate of any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Master’s level issued by an accredited language centre/ academic institution.
- In case the student has completed his/her previous level of studies in English, proof can be uploaded about the fact that the language of instruction was English, issued by the institution.
- If the uploaded document(s) do(es) not meet the above-mentioned requirements, the University relies on an online language interview.
Academic requirements:
Master studies: Bachelor’s degree relevant for the Master studies. Transcript of records of Bachelor studies.
A motivational letter, which describes the professional background of the attendee.
Programme Educational Objectives:
PEO#1 Graduates will be able to coordinate the sustainability transition of organizations, support the development of organizational sustainability strategies, oversee their implementation and operation, and prepare both mandatory and voluntary sustainability reports.
PEO#2 Graduates will possess knowledge of the systemic perspective of sustainability, and of the main ESG topics, including climate change, sustainable resource use, circular economy, as well as the social and governance aspects of sustainability.
PEO#3 Graduates will conduct themselves ethically, contribute to societal well-being through their projects and advance professionally in their careers.
PEO#4 Graduates will remain up to date with legislative, technical, technological, and administrative developments in the field and will be capable of making responsible decisions within their area of expertise.
Student Outcomes:
The student outcomes (SOs) of our programme represent the skills, knowledge and behaviours that our curriculum aims to impart to our students. The ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance Manager master programme defines seven SOs (1) to (7) to guide student development as follows:
- They have a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of sustainable development, its environmental, economic, and social dimensions, and their systemic interrelations, including theories, interconnections, and practices related to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.
- They understand the objectives of developing an ESG strategy and the practical possibilities for its implementation, as well as the methods applicable in this process, with particular emphasis on the management and organizational tasks required for establishing the ESG framework, and on the goals, roles, and instruments of sustainability governance.
- They are familiar with the corporate-level indicator systems required for building and operating an ESG framework, as well as the theoretical and practical methods for applying them, with particular emphasis on the necessary IT and infocommunication solutions.
- They are familiar with the regulations and legal framework related to the field, as well as the key aspects of its connections with EU and other international frameworks.
- They can perform management-related tasks in connection with the ESG framework, including strategy development, implementation, and managing the sustainability transition.
- They can use the specialized environmental, social, and economic terminology related to ESG at an advanced level.
- Will be able to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
Job Opportunities:
Organizations welcome graduates with an ESG MSc degree with open arms.
