The goal of the education programme is to provide students with high level knowledge built on a strong foundation of business, management and technical sciences related to the fields of Computer Science and Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in order to enable them to understand, design, implement, integrate and manage complex systems, and furthermore, to coordinate and perform research and development tasks for business IT purposes. The programme will equip students with knowledge of IT project management, Enterprise Resource Planning, knowledge base technologies, data analysis, algorithms, process management, simulations for business decision making, managerial accounting, strategic management and corporate finance in advanced level, and also to combine a scientific perspective with the practical approaches. With the solid academic basis provided, students will be able to access further studies on our English language doctoral programmes.


Structure of studies

The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 120 credits (54 credits by compulsory courses, 30 credits by differentiated professional elective courses, 6 credits by free elective courses, 30 credits by thesis courses). 1 credit equals one ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.


Language requirements

TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.

If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Bachelor's programme is automatic.

Completed and signed application form, copy of your passport, notarized copy of Bachelor’s degree relevant to the Master's studies, notarized copy of the Transcript of Records, notarized copy of your language certificate, recent photograph, Curriculum Vitae (resumé) in English, Motivational Letter in English, Academic Reference letter in English (Issued by your former academic institution/teacher)


Who is the programme aimed at?

This MSc program is designed for students and professionals holding bachelor degrees (BSc) in diverse areas of management and engineering sciences who desire to further their career by adding new knowledge, tools and skills from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The program is designed to accommodate full-time students only.


Programme educational objectives:

The Business Informatics MSc programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for successful careers in the field of computer science and business management. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:

PEO#1: Students will have a high-level knowledge built on a strong foundation of business, management and technical sciences related to the fields of Computer Science and Information and Communications Technologies

PEO#2: Students will able to understand, design, implement, integrate and manage complex systems

PEO#3: Students will have the knowledge to coordinate and perform research and development tasks for business IT purposes

PEO#4: Students will stay updated with contemporary changes, engage in lifelong learning.

Job opportunities:

With our master’s degree, students have several career opportunities such as business analyst, ERP consultant, IT project manager, product manager, data analyst, or IT manager. In addition, the graduate may choose a career in research or higher education, the latter being closely linked to the PhD programmes offered by our University. Graduates with this diploma could initially achieve managerial positions at the lower and middle levels of the corporate hierarchy. Our graduates have typically found positions with the following companies: SAP, AUDI, IBM, T-Com, Tata Consultancy Services and other R&D and tech companies. The diploma obtained is recognised as equivalent in the European Union.
