Structure of Studies:
The programme consists of 4 semesters: between September and December and between February and May. The total number of credits needed to complete the programme is 120 credits (104 credits by compulsory and elective courses, 16 credits by thesis courses and internship). 1 credit equals one ECTS credit, and 1 credit is defined as 25 student working hours.
Language requirements:
TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.
If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Master’s programme is automatic.
Academic requirements:
Completed and signed application form, copy of your passport, notarized copy of Bachelor’s degree relevant* to the Master's studies, notarized copy of the Transcript of Records, notarized copy of your language certificate, recent photograph, Curriculum Vitae (resumé) in English, Motivational Letter in English, Academic Reference letter in English (Issued by your former academic institution/teacher).
*Economics BSc., Marketing BSc., Business Administration MBA, Public Administration MSc., Finance or Accounting MSc., Health Care Management BSc., Sociology BSc., Law and Political Sciences, Nursing BSc., Medical Doctor (MD), Pharmacist. Applicants with other types of BA/BSc degrees can also apply, but will have to fulfil some additional requirements.
Programme Educational Objectives:
The Health Care Management master’s program at Széchenyi István University (SzEU) aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in various levels of management across a wide range of healthcare organizations. It covers several key topics and essential managerial skills, with a strong focus on innovation.
By launching this program, we also aim to make SzEU even more attractive, particularly for international students seeking an EU-accredited education in a growing and increasingly complex sector, preparing them for roles in management, leadership, or analytical positions.
PEO#1: Graduates will possess the skills to develop practical solutions to complex healthcare management issues. They will uphold high ethical standards, ensuring integrity in decision-making and interactions. Their commitment to ethical conduct extends beyond professional boundaries, as they actively contribute to societal well-being, positively impacting the communities they serve through their roles in healthcare management.
PEO#2: Students will develop a strong foundation in essential managerial areas, including strategic planning, financial management, and human resources, with a specialized focus on health economic evaluation. They will also cultivate strong communication skills, enabling them to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, such as patients, staff, and external partners, and to articulate ideas and strategies clearly within complex healthcare environments.
PEO#3: Graduates will embrace a culture of continuous learning, staying informed on the latest healthcare trends and developments, particularly in response to advancements in digitalization and AI. This adaptability allows them to effectively navigate the ever-evolving challenges of the healthcare sector, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet new demands and innovate within their roles.
PEO#4: he program prepares students for careers in healthcare management both within Hungary and internationally, providing them with a thorough understanding of health policy, healthcare systems, and health insurance frameworks. Graduates will be equipped to address the needs of both public and private sectors, making them valuable assets in the global healthcare landscape as leaders, analysts, and decision-makers in diverse healthcare settings.

With the ongoing expansion of the health industry in Europe and most parts of the world, numerous job opportunities exist beyond direct management roles in large or medium-sized healthcare organizations. Graduates will also possess the skills and knowledge to work in middle management or their own small enterprises. Additionally, there are opportunities within various sectors of the health industry, such as health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, trading firms, medical device or IT-ICT companies. Another career path includes public administration (e.g., health funds, ministries, health authorities) or roles in international NGOs. The degree obtained is recognized as equivalent within the European Union.
