Nearly 600 people received their valuable degrees in one day at Széchenyi István University

 

The series of graduation ceremonies at Széchenyi István University continued on 23 February. In the morning, 123 students received their degrees at the joint ceremony of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering and the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Mosonmagyaróvár and in the afternoon 219 students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, as well as 240 students of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics accepted their degrees.

At Széchenyi István University, the graduating students are awarded their diplomas in a prestigious ceremony. The first spring ceremony was held at the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Mosonmagyaróvár, followed by events at the Apáczai Csere János Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, the Deák Ferenc Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, and the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Transport Sciences.

On 23 February, three more celebrations were held on the campus of Széchenyi University in Győr.

In the morning, recent graduates of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering and students of the Mosonmagyaróvár Albert Kázmér Faculty's Environmental Engineering Bachelor's programme, Energy Loss Detection Auditor and Regional and Environmental Economics Master's programme were welcomed

"The knowledge and experience gained at Széchenyi István University is now ready to be applied in life"

- said Dr. Gábor Dogossy, Dean of the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Automotive Engineering. In his speech he also pointed out that learning does not end here, as it is a lifelong process. He stressed the importance of young people who have just graduated to continue their education in their profession and acquire the latest knowledge while working.

At the ceremony, the international students were welcomed by Dr. Dénes Fodor, Deputy Dean, and then Gergely Kercza and Baez Jimenez Alexis Paul said farewell on behalf of the graduates. Dr. Katalin Kozma, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Sustainability received the Teachers for Students Award.

Graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Mechanical, Informatics and Electrical Engineering

The day continued with the graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Mechanical, Informatics and Electrical Engineering.

"Graduation is nothing more than an opportunity to show that you are applying the knowledge you have acquired, and this chance should be seized. It is important, however, that this knowledge is not in the degree, but in your mind, in your hands, in your movements, which you have mastered in theory and in practice."

- emphasised in his speech Prof. Dr. Zoltán Horváth, Dean of the Faculty. He added that all former students are welcome to return to share their experience from the labour market, to further their training and even to play a role in training the professionals of the future.



Béla Hetzmann, Chairman and CEO of Rába Járműipari Holding Nyrt., Győr, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Széchenyi István University Foundation, emphasized the value and demand for engineering and IT knowledge in his welcome speech.

"The knowledge you have is in great demand. Today, companies are competing more for skilled workers than professionals are competing for jobs."

- he stressed. The President and CEO praised the close partnership between Rába and the university, which has been a pioneer in education and development, and the continuous support of the  foundation.

Tamás Vég then said goodbye to the university on behalf of the Hungarian students and Adurvrat Basatta on behalf of the international students. The Teachers for Students Award was given to Antal Lukács, senior lecturer.

Ceremony of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics

Participants at the ceremony of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics were welcomed by Dr. Sándor Remsei, Dean of the Faculty, who highlighted the importance of critical thinking in economics.

"Knowledge of the drivers of economic management is not just knowledge, but a force that shapes our decisions, enriches our country and thus creates our prosperity. The years here have given you the tools to analyse economic events and contribute to shaping our environment. The dynamic nature of the global economy requires professionals who are not only knowledgeable, but also innovative, open to new ideas and able to move forward - and Széchenyi István University has provided you with an excellent foundation for this."- he underlined.

On behalf of the graduating students, Bianka Bettina Bella, a student of Commerce and Marketing, said goodbye to the university, while Chadi Mourad said goodbye on behalf of the international students. At the event, the Teachers for Students Award was presented to Dr Judit Berkes, Associate Professor in the Department of Statistics, Finance and Controlling.
