NEW MENU IN THE SZÉCHENYI UNIVERSITY RESTAURANT
Changes in society have brought about changes in our eating habits too. Because of their health issues or beliefs, more and more people are choosing lactose-free and gluten-free foods or a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. In recent months, bearing in mind the needs of students both Hungarian and international, the University, the management of Széchenyi Restaurant and the Student Council have been trying to make the menu more diverse. Less popular foods have been replaced with new, exciting and interesting dishes from around the world. The process is still going on. Every week we observe which dishes are more or less popular and, depending on the results, we prepare the final menu. In this way, you too can take part in the makeover. In order to make ordering in the University Restaurant easier, the names of the dishes are translated into English.
We did not take the brainstorming phase lightly either. At the start of the year, we asked you to send us recipe suggestions of dishes you like and in this way help to reduce your homesickness a bit. Most of these dishes have been added to the selection we would like to present to you in the future. We consulted experts and even took part in a vegan cooking course to find new recipes, spices, tips and tricks. Though the real heroes are the chefs! They are not only willing to make the new recipes, they even try them out in their free time and experiment with the ingredients to make the most out of the food.
If you haven’t tried out the new dishes yet, I suggest you give it a shot. You won’t regret it! If you have suggestions or new recipe ideas, don’t hesitate to share them with us on the following e-mail address: inagy@sze.hu
