A spontaneous trip can change everything - this is the motto of Ecuadorian Sofia Suarez, a Master's student in architecture at Széchenyi István University. In the article you can read all about what ties her to Győr and what positive experiences she has had in Hungary since she started studying here thanks to the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship.
Established by the Hungarian Government in 2013, the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme aims to promote the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education. The programme is managed by the Tempus Public Foundation and supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
One principal objective of the SH programme is to attract first-rate international students who are seeking a study destination with a guarantee of high quality education and who are willing to establish long-term attachments to Hungary and its people. Alumni returning to their home countries freshly equipped with marketable skills and knowledge can build economic, political and civil relationships and are in a position to enhance Hungary’s international visibility.
In the event of a successful EU application, the Regional University Network – European University (RUN-EU), of which Széchenyi István University is a member, may be expanded to include a Belgian and a Spanish university, it was decided at the organisation's event in Finland. The Győr-based institution, which has been steadily strengthening its international relations, has undertaken to contribute to the research and third mission pillar of the consortium's application.
