On the Path to a Successful Career: Students Meet Future Employers at SZE Job Fair

Széchenyi István University organizes its Job Fair every semester for students, graduates, career starters and skilled young professionals, offering them networking opportunities with key players in the labour market. At this year’s first event in April, nearly 50 exhibitors presented close to 300 job openings and internship opportunities to attendees, who also received detailed information about the University’s dual education programmes.

On 8 April, significant economic players and employers from the region, as well as the University’s industrial partners, once again showcased themselves at individual stands on the campus. In addition to face-to-face networking opportunities, the exhibitors offered students hundreds of open positions, including internships and full-time jobs.

“Our semi-annual event is very popular among students, as it provides them with the chance to meet employers in person. This time, we had 45 exhibitors, including several internationally renowned companies, collectively offering close to 300 different job opportunities,” said Effi Zentai, the University’s career advisor. She added that the event is also important for regional economic stakeholders, as it helps ensure a supply of well-qualified and capable professionals.

During the event, students were also informed about the University’s dual educational programmes and could participate in a roundtable discussion featuring representatives from Audi Hungaria, E.ON North Transdanubian Electricity Network Ltd., MÁV Track Operation Ltd., and Schaeffler Savaria Ltd. Dual education coordinator Gréta Oláh emphasized that the essence of this programme is that students gain practical training with a corporate partner alongside their university studies.

“This provides a significant competitive advantage in the job market as, in many cases, students find their future employers during their university years and acquire real hands-on experience in their profession. The programme also benefits participating companies, as it promotes a fresh, innovative professional mind-set and helps in selecting future employees,” she noted. She highlighted a change this year: only current university students, rather than future applicants, are eligible to apply. From 9 April, all partner companies and application details can be found at dualis.sze.hu, with the application deadline set for 20 April.

Barnabás Bicsák, from Vasszécseny, is a second-year dual student at Széchenyi István University, studying automotive engineering and completing his practical training at Schaeffler Savaria Ltd. in Szombathely. “The dual education programme offered by Széchenyi University has many benefits, which I’ve experienced first-hand. I can apply the knowledge gained at the University in a real company setting and gain valuable work experience during my studies. The scholarship is also a great help in supporting my education,” said the student. He added that he feels well-integrated both at the University and at the company, where he is already treated as a colleague, works with a great team, and contributes to the work of a global enterprise.

Erika Polgárfi from Győr, a master’s student in supply chain management, spent two and a half years as an intern at Audi Hungaria alongside her studies. “It was an incredible experience and a defining step in my career. I was surrounded by a supportive and helpful team and I learned a lot,” she emphasized. She said she finds the University’s Job Fair extremely useful and has attended it in the past. “This time, I came to gain a broader picture of the opportunities that await me as a recent graduate, especially in Győr and the surrounding area,” she concluded.

In addition to exploring the companies’ offers, students attending the event also received career advice and had the chance to meet some of the University’s world-class student teams, which also provide excellent opportunities for gaining practical experience.

Open positions from participating companies can be found at allasborze.sze.hu and karrier.sze.hu, where visitors can also find useful tips for writing CVs and cover letters, as well as for job searching and interviews.
