Over 100 students receive diploma at SZE’s Mosonmagyaróvár Campus
The graduation ceremony was held at Széchenyi István University’s Albert Kázmér Faculty at Mosonmagyaróvár, where 113 graduating students had the honour of receiving their degree certificates at the prestigious event held on Friday, 7 July.
The ceremony began with a ceremonial address by Dr Éva Szalka, Dean, who highlighted that the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Campus serves as the cradle of agricultural research in Hungary, and the fresh graduates can serve as an example to many with their commitment, faith, and perseverance towards the community. Following this, Dr Attila Kovács, the deputy dean responsible for international relations, speaking in English, greeted the students who completed their studies on the institution's English-taught programmes. Then Dr János Iváncsics, deputy mayor of Mosonmagyaróvár, welcomed the young people who were about to receive their diplomas.
The ceremony continued with the students taking their oath, and after receiving their diplomas, they were also awarded the certificate of "Honorary Citizen of Mosonmagyaróvár." Laura Anna Mohari, a food engineer, and Leila Szalkai-Tóth, a student of plant sciences, received the Pro Auditoribus award for their outstanding community activities, while Levente László Hanzli, a rural development agricultural engineer, Nagy Kristóf and Marcell Pethő, agricultural engineers, and Virág Zsófia Reider, a food engineer, were rewarded with the Pro Auditoribus award certificate of merit.
Attendees also witnessed touching moments as they expressed their gratitude to the Dean, Dr Éva Szalka, who is soon to retire and who will be succeeded by Dr Tamás Tóth.
During the event, it was announced that the 2022 Dr Hunyadi Károly Memorial Medal was awarded to Dr Gábor Kerekes, senior researcher at Faculty’s Department of Plant Sciences. Furthermore, on the occasion of the town’s Teacher's Day, the municipality of Mosonmagyaróvár bestowed the "Outstanding University Educator of Mosonmagyaróvár" award to lecturer Dr László Gulyás.
