Prestigious Honours on the Commemoration of the Foundation of the Hungarian State

On the occasion of the 20 August celebrations, two senior members of staff of Széchenyi István University received distinguished recognition from the state.

On the recommendation of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, President of the Republic, Katalin Novák awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice President of Széchenyi István University and to Dr Éva Szalka, Dean of the Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty of Széchenyi István University.

In her tribute to Dr Lukács, the President of the Republic said that as the former Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Széchenyi István University, as Associate Professor of the Department of International and Applied Economics of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Economics, and as founder of the University’s Centre of International Programmes, Dr Lukács had achieved an invaluable contribution to the institution. She received the award in recognition of her outstanding leadership as well as her exceptional teaching and professional work, and especially for the results she has achieved in raising international interest in the campus.

Dr Éva Szalka, agricultural engineer, received the award in recognition of her outstanding teaching and professional public activities and highly effective leadership as Dean of Széchenyi István University’s Albert Kázmér Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty and as Associate Professor of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development.
