Brief description of the programme:
The purpose of the programme is to prepare Recreation and Health Promotion Managers capable of serving as organizers, instructors, and consultants in the fields of sports (especially recreational sports), cultured leisure, and healthy living. Graduates are equipped to work within business services, healthcare, social and educational institutions, sports organizations, and other civil organizations.
Recreational sports activities and exercise programmes are designed for all age groups, with a focus on independent planning, organizing, and managing health-promoting, experience-based programmes, events, and active tourism activities such as camps and tours. Graduates understand and apply regular physical activity as a means to enhance fitness and overall health. They contribute to the development and enrichment of sport, recreation, and lifestyle culture, fulfilling significant social and market demands.
Structure of studies
The duration of the programme takes six academic semesters.
Language requirements
TOEFL 513 / IELTS 5.5 /oral examination, TOEFL IBT test score of 66 or any standardised international English language exam corresponding with Hungarian B2 at the Bachelors level and C1 at Masters level.
If there is no standardised English exam, the University relies on an online interview. Applicants not complying with language requirements must enrol in a preparatory language programme. After having completed the language course and passed the requisite final examination, if there are no professional reservations on the part of the Faculty, admission to the selected Bachelor's programme is automatic.

Programme educational objectives:
The Recreation Management and Health Promotion BSc programme at Széchenyi István University is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary for successful careers in Recreation Management and Health Promotion. Our programme educational objectives (PEOs) are as follows:
PEO#1
Students will know the processes, problem areas, current issues, knowledge acquisition, and problem-solving methods of physical and mental recreation.
PEO#2
Students will graduate in anatomy, physiology, and exercise theory with an integrated approach, which is necessary for the planning and management of leisure exercise programmes and sports activities.
PEO#3
Graduates will master the movement material of recreational sports and the methodology required for conducting and organizing recreational exercise programmes tailored to age, gender, and health status.
PEO#4
Graduates will possess integrated expertise across sports, health, and organizational sciences, equipping them to effectively organize and manage recreation and lifestyle programmes.
Student Outcomes:
The student outcomes (SOs) of our programme represent the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that our curriculum aims to impart to our students. The Recreation Management and Health Promotion BSc programme defines seven SOs (1) to (7) to guide student development as follows:
1. Prepared for planning, developing, organizing, and managing sports, fitness, animation, tourism, wellness, and lifestyle programmes, as well as events, camps, and tours for all age groups.
2. An ability to actively participate in the practical implementation of recreation and lifestyle programmes.
3. An ability to assess fitness, identify the causes of emerging problems, formulate solutions, and communicate appropriately
4. An ability to synthesize the theoretical approaches of recreation organization and her own work experience, and the ability to carry out adequate evaluation and consulting activities.
5. An ability to communicate and present her professional knowledge and experience authentically in social, health, social, educational institutions, business, and civil organizations.
6. An ability to apply recreational techniques and procedures for prevention, health preservation, and rehabilitation, taking into account their conditions of use and limitations.
7. An ability to teach sports and other recreational activities by applying adaptable learning strategies that suit varying skill levels, while also evaluating clients' activities and performance in a humane and rational manner.
Job opportunities:
The skills acquired can help the graduates in a wide range of areas: reviewing and analyzing issues related to sports, leisure, and health culture, and formulating proposals to address these challenges. Developing a well-rounded, independent perspective on health in a holistic sense. Active promotion of the physical and mental health of the individuals and groups working with them. Independent designs of customized exercise programmes for both individuals and groups in wellness hotels, in the private sphere, or working environments. Selecting appropriate training equipment and methods tailored to their needs. The diploma obtained is recognized as equivalent in the European Union.
