In 2016, Széchenyi István University joined the international higher education accounting organisation (European Taxation and Accounting in Practice, abbreviated ETAP), which organised its 23rd International Accounting Week between 5 and 11 March, this time in Belgium, at the VIVES College in Kortrijk. This year, the Győr-based institution was represented by two students of the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics, Rita Válint and Milán Molnár, and their lecturer, Dr. Katalin Borbély, Associate Professor.

The event is held annually in one of the member institutions. The organisation is a pan-European network, with 16 universities from 14 countries. Its aim is to enhance the practical relevance of accounting education, to exchange experience between teachers and students at participating institutions and to provide students with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the basic requirements of international financial reporting standards.

During Accounting Week, students listened to lectures and solved related BA-level case studies in English in international groups of four. In addition to the professional programmes, cultural events were also organised. The students from Győr performed well throughout, with Milán Molnár and his team coming third out of 23 teams in the professional competition.
