SZE educates business leaders in collaboration with American University

Once again there is the opportunity to apply for places on Széchenyi István University’s online English-taught double degree MBA programme run in conjunction with the American University of Rhode Island (URI), at the end of which students receive a diploma from both institutions. The deadline for applications is 23 August 2021.

To quote Attila Balogh, Deputy Chief Sales Manager of T-Systems Magyarország Zrt., one of the satisfied participants of the first cohort on the English-taught four semester Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, launched just last year: “Széchenyi István University’s new MBA programme provides knowledge which can be immediately put to use. It is really good that, in addition to the theoretical materials, there are many practical examples and exercises in the programme, and it soon becomes clear the ways in which the various elements can be used and just where they are beneficial.”

Project manager of the MVM Group, Dóra Szabari considers herself lucky to have been admitted to the Széchenyi University programme because, as she said, thanks to the part American degree course, in her work she is acquiring and utilizing a new kind of approach, currently less known in Hungary. “Overall, in this MBA I can see a potential with which I can today lay the groundwork for greater development in my later career,” she pointed out.

Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs at Széchenyi István University explained: „Of the world’s 15,000 MBA programmes, only 5% can boast top-ranking AACSB accreditation, including ours. The certification body guarantees that exclusively the best qualified business leaders in the world can obtain a diploma on those Higher Education programmes it recognizes. On our double degree programme, participants can learn American business management skills from URI instructors. Graduates receive a double degree: from Széchenyi István University and from the University of Rhode Island. Here in Hungary students receive an Executive MBA Manager/Economist degree, while in America students are awarded an MBA Master's degree.”  

Dr Lukács added that the speciality of the MBA programme is that it welcomes applications from BA / BSc undergraduates with corporate or institutional management ambitions who, by gaining this world-class double degree programme, aim to shorten their career path and significantly accelerate their career advancement.

Széchenyi István University now provides a new opportunity for applicants and first-year MBA students to exchange experiences as well as an appropriate forum for this, with the involvement of final year students.

The best Hungarian students will receive a scholarship grant covering the full cost of the fees. Applications from Hungary can be made by 23 August 2021 on the www.felveteli.sze.hu website.

For non-Hungarian citizens and non-Hungarian nationals, the American-Hungarian double degree MBA programme is available on a self-funded basis. These candidates should apply on: Admissions - International Programmes (sze.hu) also by the 23 August deadline.

The process of internationalization of Széchenyi István University is progressing at a dynamic pace. This is well indicated by the fact that in academic year 2018-2019, applicants were able to select from only seven English-taught programmes at Bachelors, Masters and doctoral level, whereas in the current academic year there is a choice of more than 35 programmes.
