SZE Open Day Draws 5,000+ Visitors with Quality Education and Modern Facilities

More than 5,000 people attended the Open Doors event of Széchenyi István University, where students were able to learn about the institution's quality academic programmes, its European-standard teaching and research infrastructure, its Halls of Residence and student life. Participants were informed in detail about the admission requirements for each degree programme, for which applications are open until 15 February.

Széchenyi István University was recently showcased in Budapest as a key participant in the Educatio Exhibition and the upcoming host of this year’s EFOTT Festival at Lake Velence, while on 14 January, it welcomed prospective students to its Open Day event on the Győr campus. The event provided visitors with useful information about the admission process, scholarships and even the entertainment facilities available on campus.

In his opening speech, Dr Zsolt Kovács, Vice-President for General and Educational Affairs, emphasised that it is worthwhile for applicants to have at least one subject at the advanced level, but the intermediate language exam is also a significant advantage in the scoring. "Széchenyi University's 'Pathway to Higher Education' programme gives students the opportunity to gain insights into university life, useful knowledge and, at the same time, institutional admission points.  It is worth taking advantage of this opportunity, because the University offers its students practice-oriented courses, knowledge that is competitive in the labour market and a valuable degree," he said.

"More than 5,000 people showed interest in our courses during the day, and were informed about our courses by lecturers and academics. They also took part in campus tours, laboratory and library visits, and quizzes," said Gergő Lőrincz, Head of the institution's Career Guidance and Marketing Centre. He added that young people could meet world-leading student teams, see an exhibition of Design Campus students and try their hand at a maths quiz. "We will continue to answer any questions they may have after the event, both in person and online, through school information sessions and career guidance events," he said.

At the stands set up in the City University Hall and during the presentations held in the University’s academic buildings, prospective students had the opportunity to learn about nearly 100 programmes across 11 fields of study (law, economics, social sciences, engineering, agriculture, humanities, IT, education, health sciences, arts, and sports sciences) offered by the University’s nine faculties.

Levente Bognár from the Petőfi Sándor High School in Pápa attended the Open Day. "I'm interested in logistics engineering, technical manager, economics and management, as well as trade and marketing. I really like the modernity of the University, which I have already heard good things about from friends. The Open Day was also very useful for me, I got all my questions answered and I was able to attend informative lectures," he said.

Móna Plank from Jáky József Technical School in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, also plans to mark Széchenyi University as her first choice. "I'm studying architecture at secondary school and I would like to continue along this path. My acquaintances have a very good opinion of Győr and now I can rely on my personal impressions, which are also positive. My experiences at the Educatio Exhibition in Budapest last week and at the Open Doors event this week have only confirmed my decision to choose this institution," she underlined.

Sára Boglárka Péntek from the Kazinczy Ferenc High School in Győr attended the event. "I'm interested in two degree subjects, tourism and catering, but I would also like to study commerce and marketing. As someone from Győr, I know the University well, I have many friends who come here and they have told me good things, so it is not a question for me that I would like to study here. At the Educatio Exhibition last week and at the Open Day, we were welcomed very warmly. I was able to ask questions and got plenty of answers," she said.
