SZE Students Developed Their Skills in the Netherlands with the Support of the Pannonia Scholarship

University students from four European countries – including those from Széchenyi István University supported by the Pannonia Scholarship – collaborated on industrial sustainability projects in Enschede, the Netherlands. The international programme organised by Bosch and Saxion University provided participants with not only professional knowledge but also lifelong experiences.

Students from Széchenyi István University took part in the international educational programme titled “Innovation for Industrial Sustainability in an International Environment” with the support of the Pannonia Scholarship Programme. The event, recently held in Enschede, the Netherlands, was jointly organised by Saxion University and Bosch, and brought together students from five higher education institutions across four countries to collaborate on the topic of sustainable industrial innovation.

“The online phase of the programme began as early as March, with students attending weekly evening professional lectures and starting their international teamwork. The challenges posed by engineers from Bosch’s Deventer centre – such as the future of hydrogen boilers, sustainable packaging, carbon emission targets, the political implications of the energy transition, and the presence of Legionella bacteria in drinking water – were all exciting and highly relevant issues for the students to tackle,” explained Dr Eszter Sós, Associate Professor at Széchenyi University’s Department of Logistics and Transportation.

The programme included a five-day trip to the Netherlands, during which students visited Bosch’s factory in Deventer. There, they were introduced to, among other things, a new conversion kit that could potentially enable existing boilers in UK households to operate on hydrogen, thereby contributing to climate protection goals. At the end of the programme, the teams presented their projects to Bosch expert Nelson Tavares and lecturers from Saxion University.
