Széchenyi associate professor heads American-based international association

Péter Böröcz, head of the Packaging and Environmental Testing Laboratory at Széchenyi István University, has recently been elected to the Board of Directors of the US-based International Association of Packaging Research Institutes.

“It is an honour that the institute with its overseas HQ, which brings together many excellent, internationally renowned professionals, has also recognized my scientific work, but at the same time I would like to emphasize that the success is shared, as all of this is the merit of my team. I am grateful to them for their continued support. With the knowledge and network of contacts acquired as a director, I would like to continue to support the innovation and globalization efforts of the University of Győr,” commented Péter Böröcz on the news of his appointment.

The leader of the Packaging and Environmental Testing Laboratory at Széchenyi István University, as a full member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Packaging Research Institutes (IAPRI), will cooperate with representatives of the American, Brazilian, Chilean, Swiss, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Dutch and Australian entities.

One of the strategic goals of Széchenyi István University is to increase its visibility on the international stage, and it strives continuously to expand its network of contacts. The professional recognition and appointment of Dr Böröcz is an objective confirmation of the international competitiveness and value-creating ability of the Győr institution.

IAPRI was established in 1971 as an international membership association to promote packaging research and education. IAPRI is a unique global network that allows organizations to communicate with each other and jointly develop ideas, exchange experiences, in many cases eliminating duplication of effort. Today, IAPRI has more than 90 members from 29 countries.

Péter Böröcz, associate professor at Széchenyi István University, Győr, and Head of the institution’s Packaging and Environmental Testing Laboratory. He is the supervisor of many PhD research works and is actively involved in international collaborative research and scientific articles. He is a member of IAPRI (International Association of Packaging Research Institutions) and ISTA (International Safe Transit Association), a member of the Board of the Hungarian Association of Packaging and Material Handling and COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Packaging Action (CA19124). His main research topics are packaging testing methods for traffic simulation purposes, packaging dynamics during distribution, and mathematical optimization of packaging solutions with game theory and fuzzy method.
