The British Deputy Head of Mission gave a lecture at Széchenyi István University
The role of the United Kingdom in the global space, the importance of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the future of students were among the topics discussed at Széchenyi István University by Andrew Davidson, Deputy Head of Mission. The diplomat praised the development of the institution.
A room in the Management Campus of Széchenyi István University was packed to capacity with interested students when Deputy Head of Mission Andrew Davidson gave his lecture in English.
"Good afternoon," said the diplomat in perfect Hungarian, turning to the astonished audience, and revealed that he would like to fully master the Hungarian language. As he glanced over the colourful crowd of university students from all over the world, from China to Ecuador, he remarked, "You are the future of international diplomacy."

Andrew Davidson's informative presentation revealed, among other things, that Hungary is currently home to more than 900 British companies, employing around 55,000 people, and that many British people have found a home here. This is why they consider it important to maintain a harmonious and fruitful partnership between the two countries.
Turning to global issues, mentioning the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, he praised Hungary for its outstanding assistance to Ukrainian refugees so far. He said that the UK also attaches great importance to humanitarian aid and is a supporter of peace and human rights.
After the lecture, he also answered questions from the audience about his previous mission to Africa, British energy use and the performance of the British economy.
