The Hungarian spraying drone is being developed for the international market

Széchenyi István University is an important player in drone research. This field was strengthened last year when the institution, together with ABZ Drone Kft. and MIB Invest Group Kft., founded a new company, ABZ Innovation Kft., for the development and production of drones and related accessories. With the recently signed syndicate agreement, the company has reached an important milestone in its history, and soon another one will follow: the market launch of the first drone developed by the company.

The representatives of ABZ Drone Kft., MIB Invest Group Kft., Uni Inno Kft., ABZ Innovation Kft. and Széchenyi István University signed a syndicate agreement, which sets out the details of the operation of the jointly founded ABZ Innovation Kft., as well as the rights and obligations of the parties.

The aim is for ABZ Innovation to develop drone manufacturing company with the goal of entering the European market, and also undertaking manufacturer sales functions. The first self-developed and manufactured drone, the Liquidator, will be launched soon.

The agricultural spraying drone combines all current innovations available on the market and is designed for domestic and European agricultural conditions. The product, therefore, offers European farmers safe and easy-to-use drone technology with ongoing support and service.

"Széchenyi István University aims to contribute to the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy through innovative initiatives that leverage the knowledge and R&D potential of the university. Of particular importance to us are those areas where we can strengthen sustainability. Our cooperation on drone development is also outstanding in this respect, as drone technology contributes effectively to sustainable farming," said Dr. Bálint Filep, President of Széchenyi István University, on the occasion of the signing ceremony.

Gábor Dósa, CEO of Uni Inno Kft., added that this cooperation is a flagship for the development of the innovation ecosystem and the university's business development activities. "Our institution, together with a drone development company already present on the market and the capital investor, is creating an asset that can be boldly launched on the global market. Our aim is to build on the knowledge base of the university to create as many such collaborations as possible," he stressed.

István Szekeres, Managing Director of MIB Invest Group Kft., explained that his group of companies deals with socially useful, innovative issues that are also economically beneficial. In his opinion, drone technology is at the forefront of this. "I used to work in agriculture, in the food industry, and I believe that the drone is the tool of the future in many areas of agriculture. It is economically and ecologically very important and one of the priority development directions for the next decades in which we want to play an important role," he said. István Szekeres emphasised that the joint work with Széchenyi István University is of great importance, as the Hungarian drone could also receive outstanding attention worldwide.

"ABZ Drone Ltd. has been developing drones for a long time, but this cooperation gives the company a new perspective, as it creates an opportunity to combine our experience and knowledge with the university's knowledge and innovation. Few development companies can boast such a background. This collaboration enables us to create a product that will stand its ground not only in Hungary but also internationally, and may even become a market leader," said Gyula Török, CEO of ABZ Drone Ltd. He also revealed that the spraying drone has already entered the final phase of beta testing, so the product could be on the market soon.

Drones offer new innovative opportunities in more and more segments of industry and agriculture. The Digital Development Centre of Széchenyi István University is conducting research in this field in partnership with public, academic and corporate actors.

At Széchenyi University, drone research is supported by high quality infrastructure, including the recently established drone technology laboratory, while the SZEviation student team helps to attract students and ensure the next generation of researchers. The university also plays a significant role in the education of professionals, through the establishment of a teaching laboratory for drone and image processing, and providing post-graduate training courses for drone control specialists and drone data analysts.
