The women's team of SZE won the silver medal at the MEFOB basketball tournament
After the 13-sport MEFOB Fest in Győr, Széchenyi István University hosted the Final Four of the Hungarian University-College National Basketball Championship. The institution's men's team finished fourth, while the women's team took second place.
Sport is of great importance to Széchenyi István University, which has recently become the sports capital of the Hungarian higher education. As soon as the MEFOB Fest in Győr ended with a great success, Széchenyi István University hosted another national university championship. Having organised the festival in 13 individual and team sports, the Győr campus hosted the men's and women's basketball MEFOB on 13-14 May.
The women's semi-final was a home win for Győr, as the defending champions ELTE-BEAC got defeated in a great battle. In the finals TFSE could not be surprised, so UNI Győr SZESE won the silver medal at home, while the bronze medal was won by ELTE-BEAC in a close match against DEAC.

Dr. István Barthalos, the coach of the girls' team of Győr, is proud of the team's performance provided throughout the year. "In the final, the paper form prevailed. We will keep working to become champions," he concluded.
The men's competition also showed exciting battles and close semi-finals: while PTE-PEAC beat DEAC by eight points, the University of Miskolc won by only seven points against Mosonmagyaróvár UNI Győr. In the bronze medal game, PTE-PEAC won the bronze medal, while the home team finished fourth. In the final, DEAC triumphed over University of Miskolc.
