To round up Oxford Balliol College's rowing training camp in Győr, for the second year running a Széchenyi-Oxford Regatta was organised on the section of the River Moson-Danube which flows through the heart of the city centre. This year they were joined by teams from three Czech Universities and two Hungarian Universities. In both the women’s fours and in the men's eights races, the Széchenyi teams were the first to cross the finishing line. 

Dr Péter Földesi, Rector of Széchenyi István University and Dr Eszter Lukács, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, were in attendance at the event. Dr Lukács commented how great an honour it is for Széchenyi István University that Balliol College took the initiative to propose competing with our rowing teams. The goal is to make the Széchenyi-Oxford Regatta a tradition, allowing the University to showcase  the richness of student life at Széchenyi István University beyond academia, but more especially to highlight the excellent opportunities offered to our students in sports. Dr Lukács emphasized the fact that there could not be a better location for this event than Győr, a city of rivers where rowers can practice and compete in a wonderful environment with excellent facilities.

Teams from Oxford, Brno University of Technology and Széchenyi István University participated In the women's fours race. The Győr team were victors with second place going to Brno and, despite a valiant performance, Oxford finished in third place. In the men's competition likewise, the Széchenyi team was the winner.

We would like to welcome everybody to the second University Regatta, the closing event of the Oxford Balliol College training camp, which will take place on 15^th April at 17:00.

The event will take place in the Győr city centre section of the river, with men's eight and women’s four races over 1000 metres.

Henan University of Technology, Henan Province, China, is offering admission to their doctoral programmes. All the candidates will be sponsored by the Chinese Government.

Within the framework of internationalisation (project number: EFOP-3.6.1-16-2016-00017) Dr. Monika Foltyn-Zarychta and Dr. Rafal Bula from the Faculty of Finance and Investments of UEK visited our University. Their invitation was initiated by Dr. Katalin Vagáné Kiss, who has participated at the International Week “New Frontiers in Finance and Accounting” organised by UEK several times in recent years.

The guest lecturers’ visit aimed at strengthening cooperation, enhancing joint research and teaching activities, as well as, sharing experience and best practice. During their stay the lecturers met the authorities of the University including Dr. Eszter Lukács, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Dr. Adrienn Reisinger, Vice-Dean for  Scientific Research, Dr. Éva Happ, Vice-Dean for International Affairs of Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics, Dr. Gábor Kovács, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs and research group leader, Dr. Melinda Hajdú-Smáhó and Dr. Norbert Kovács, academics.

On Tuesday 26th February, Dr Péter Földesi, Rector of Széchenyi István University and Dr Károly Jókay, Managing Director of the Fulbright Committee, signed a cooperation agreement. One of the principle goals of the collaboration is to invite lecturers and professors from the United States to be involved in the delivery of 24 new English-taught academic programmes to be launched in September 2019, within the University’s current internationalization drive.

ADMISSIONS NEWS interviewed Dr Péter Smuk PhD, Vice-Dean of the Deák Ferenc Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law and Political Sciences and Professor who has been employed at Széchenyi István University since 2002.

Grants for the incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system, within the Beatriu de Pinós programme (BP 2018)

The purpose of the Beatriu de Pinós programme is to award individual grants for the employment and incorporation of postdoctoral research staff into the Catalan science and technology system.  

The Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade (Külügyi és Külgazdasági Intézet, KKI/IFAT) invites applications for its 12-week research internship program for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students, as well as recent graduates, starting on March 4, 2019.

On 6 December 2018, with the support of the University Student Council and the Széchenyi István University and with the cooperation of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), around 80 students took part in the closing event of the Autumn semester.

On Wednesday, 16^th January, Széchenyi István University hosted this year’s Open Doors (Nyított Kapuk) Fair for prospective students. On an expanded site, in both the Aula and in the Lab Building, there were 32 booths and countless novelties. Altogether, there were over 5,000 visitors, with many more high school students, teachers and parents than last year showing interest in the opportunities offered by our expanding HEI.
