Formula 1 Experts Teaching in SZE’s Unique Motorsport Engineering Programme
Széchenyi István University has launched a unique, English-taught Master’s programme in Motorsport Engineering, the only one of its kind in Central Europe. The inaugural cohort consists of eleven students who have recently commenced their studies. Among the faculty are several professionals with Formula 1 experience, as well as engineers from teams that have won world championships in other branches of motorsport.

Rodrigo Neto initially arrived in Győr drawn by the allure of the Audi brand, but he would have stayed on because of the close-knit community. As an Erasmus student who spent half a year at Széchenyi István University, the Portuguese student now highly recommends the institution to his peers. Indian Collaboration: SZE Expands Its Offer with Double Degree Programme and Restaurant
Széchenyi István University and India's Integral University launched a two-year "International Economics and Business" double degree programme in September. The first cohort of the Master's programme includes 18 students from the South Asian country who, upon completion, will receive diplomas from both institutions. The students currently spending the semester in Győr can also enjoy familiar flavours from home, as from 1st March the University is expanding the menu of its Paneer restaurant, located in the ETO Park shopping centre, to include Indian dishes, which will be available to all.

With a history spanning nearly two decades, the event serves as a meeting place, a competition, and a platform for building industrial connections. Registration is open until 2nd March.

For the third time, Széchenyi István University held its training development conference to present recent innovations and inform its educators and partners about expected future directions. In addition to the advantages of the University ecosystem, the event covered competence assessments, project-based modules, and initiatives aimed at fostering student socialisation.
SZE Students Win Both Events at University Alpine Skiing Championship
Les Orres, France, recently hosted the 2024/2025 Hungarian University and College National Championship (MEFOB) in alpine skiing and snowboarding. Students of Széchenyi István University, Katalin Anna Pataki and Miklós Bereczki, secured first place in the giant slalom skiing competition, earning two gold medals for their institution in Győr.
Sustainability and Digitalisation: Future Professionals Graduate from SZE in Mosonmagyaróvár
At the graduation ceremony of the Albert Kázmér Faculty of Mosonmagyaróvár of Széchenyi István University, graduates of programmes that were the first of their kind in Hungary were also honoured. These include the ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance Specialist and the Precision Livestock and Management Engineering. Among other achievements, the University recently received the Award for Digitalisation of Agribusiness in recognition of its future-oriented programmes and pioneering research activities.
Smart Garden and Technological Innovations Support the Development of SZE’s Mosonmagyaróvár Campus
As part of the Rural Development Programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, Széchenyi István University is developing the infrastructure related to dairy and medicinal herb processing at the Campus of Albert Kázmér Faculty Mosonmagyaróvár. The nearly one-billion-forint project includes the creation of a smart garden for educational, demonstration, and research purposes, the expansion of the dairy processing facility’s technology, and the implementation of demonstration programmes. Diseased trees that need to be removed will be replaced with fruit trees, medicinal and spice plants, as well as ornamental and garden trees.
New English-taught Programmes at SZE from September
Széchenyi István University has announced the launch of eleven new English-taught academic programmes as part of the general admission procedure. From September, all nine faculties will offer programmes taught in English. Both Hungarian and international students are welcome to join these new full-time programmes.
Effective and Popular Project-Based Practical Programme at SZE
This academic year, Széchenyi István University launched the Student Project Support Programme, in the framework of which around 250 students took part in extra-curricular practical projects during the first semester. Experience from 12 degree programmes indicates that students find the initiative valuable.
SZEason Opening: At the Forefront of Motorsport and Automotive Technologies at SZE
Széchenyi István University plays a key role in the development of cutting-edge automotive technologies and vehicle engineering education while becoming an increasingly active participant in motorsport. With the University’s support, competing students have achieved significant successes in the past year, earning national and international placements. The SZE Motorsport season-opening event was held on 4 February, where athletes and technical leaders presented their plans for 2025.
SZE Recognizes Achievements of Water Management Leaders with Prestigious Award
Széchenyi István University has expressed its gratitude to István Láng, Director General of the General Directorate of Water Management, and József Németh, Director of the North Transdanubian Water Directorate, by awarding them the Gold Level Certificate of Recognition from the Governing Board. This honour acknowledges their outstanding contributions to the management of successful flood defense operations, as well as their extensive partnership with the University.

SZE’s Residential College of Engineering Celebrates 10th Anniversary
The Neumann János Residential College of Engineering has reached a significant milestone, recently celebrating the tenth anniversary of its establishment. This professional community, founded as a student initiative, is renowned for organizing the highly successful P12 programming competition, which was hosted for years by Széchenyi István University. The organization's current long-term project aims to create a competition for students focused on artificial intelligence.

Success on the Global Stage: Hungary’s First Pro Sim Racing Team Forms at SZE
This year marked the establishment of the first professional motorsport simulator team within the e-sports division of Széchenyi István University (SZESE E-Sport). The team immediately positioned itself among the elite in the field, achieving an outstanding result at the prestigious Daytona 24-hour simulator race in the United States. Competing in the highly competitive LMP2 category, the Hungarian team secured an impressive fifth place.
SZE Secures Horizon Europe & Interreg Danube Grants
Széchenyi István University has recently secured significant international research grants from the European Union’s Horizon Europe and Interreg Danube programmes. These grants support research in the fields of environmental protection, sustainability, water management and fisheries. The University is collaborating with esteemed institutions such as the University of Zagreb in Croatia, the University of Leeds in the UK, and the WWF’s Central and Eastern Europe Programme.

SZE among the Best in Global THE Rankings for Engineering and Economics
For the first time in its history, Széchenyi István University has been included in two World University Rankings by subject by Times Higher Education at the same time. The institution debuted in the Business and Economics category, where it is tied as the best in Hungary, while also strengthening its presence in the Engineering category.
Students of graphic design at Széchenyi István University designed the branding for a special beer
The Apátúr Brewery, jointly owned by Széchenyi István University and the Benedictine Priory of Győr, is developing a product line of beers with flavours such as coffee, quince, Italian spices and grape. The unique branding for this line was created by the University’s graphic design students, and the design chosen by the jury may be featured on the bottles in the future.
