Recognition of SZE staff and alumni

Lampert pic.jpgThe citizens of Széchenyi István University perform their value-creating activities not only for the benefit of the institution, but also for the benefit of a larger community, the city and the region. This is demonstrated by the fact that Dr Bálint Lampert, assistant professor, received the Győr Environmental Protection Award, Dr Pál Szakál, professor emeritus, received the title of "Outstanding University Lecturer of the City of Mosonmagyaróvár", while Dr Rezső Schmidt, professor, received the Ministry of Agriculture’s Nagyváthy János Award. Ágnes Bozsaky, a former student of the Apáczai Csere János Faculty of the University, won second place in the "Special Education Teacher of the Year" competition this year, after winning first place last year. The work of Ferenc Szabó, musician and conductor of the Győr Symphonic Band, was recognised by the town of Komárom, while the work of the Foundation for School Gardens was recognised by the Ministry of Agriculture.

European transport scientists meet at Széchenyi István University

The event was attended by almost 200 participants, half of whom were experts from home and half from abroad.

SZE research group for sustainable, healthy crop production

A research group on environmentally friendly plant protection and efficient plant virology is being established at the Mosonmagyaróvár Faculty at Széchenyi István University, led by Professor Dr László Amand Palkovics. The project, which won a call for proposals by the Secretariat of the Eötvös Loránd Research Network and the Office of the Supported Research Groups, will further enhance the scientific work at the institution and contribute to the transfer of practical, state-of-the-art knowledge.

QS World Rankings: SZE joins the list of top Hungarian universities

As in the previous year, Széchenyi István University is once again in the top four percent of the world's universities in the latest World University Rankings from QS, the higher education rating organisation. According to the rankings, the institution has caught up with the major Hungarian universities: it ranks only behind ELTE and the universities with faculties of medicine - Szeged, Debrecen and Pécs. The University owes its success primarily to the quality of its teaching, its excellent corporate and academic reputation and its growing international student community.
