Students Explore Career Opportunities at SZE’s Job Fair
At the November Job Fair of Széchenyi István University, students had the opportunity to meet directly with the key players in the economic life of the region. Participants were able to learn not only about job offers, but also about the tricks of the application and interview process and even of the possibility of joining the Student Teams of SZE.
SZE Signs Cooperation Agreement with 45-year-old Győr Ballet
Széchenyi István University and the Győr Ballet have signed a cooperation agreement in order to implement a career model for students of dance and to turn young people into dance-loving audiences. The long-term goal of the partnership between the institution and the company, which is 45 years old this year, is to create a regional dance training centre in the region.
Dr Zsolt Szepesváry, Vice-Dean of Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences of SZE receives Príma Award
Dr Zsolt Szepesváry, Vice-Dean for Development at the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences of Széchenyi István University, Head of the Urology Department of the Aladár Petz University Teaching Hospital, was recognized in the Hungarian Science category at the Príma Awards ceremony in the former synagogue and concert hall of Széchenyi István University, in Győr-Moson-Sopron County.
THE Bridge Club Keeps the Beat Going: Concerts Every Weekend this Winter at SZE
Although the open-air season is over for this year, the period from October to April promises to be a busy one at the Bridge Student and Teacher Club of Széchenyi István University: the best Hungarian popular music performers will be playing weekend after weekend at the venue. Fans of rock, rap and alternative genres will be well catered for, but there will also be a boogie-woogie festival, a tribute band playing covers and a special Esti Egyenleg birthday party. Péter Németh-Bende, the manager, said that a number of performances are already booked for next summer.

Hungarian Satellite to Monitor Drought in Collaboration with SZE
A groundbreaking research initiative involving Széchenyi István University is underway, with the University playing a key role in a European Union project that deploys a satellite to monitor drought-prone regions across Hungary. SZE launches a unique Health Psychology Master's programme in the region
Széchenyi István University is launching a much-needed Master’s programme in Health Psychology in Western Hungary starting this February in a correspondence format, designed to address the region's demand in this field. The two-year programme, offered by the Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences, will commence in Hungarian in the spring semester, while an English-taught, full-time version will be available for international students from the autumn semester onward.
AI Innovation at Széchenyi University Supports At-Home Rehabilitation
Several health technology developments are currently underway at Széchenyi István University. One of them allows patients to perform the physical exercises necessary for their rehabilitation in their own homes. On October 25, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba, received the "Doctor Honoris Causa" award from Széchenyi István University in recognition of his decades-long career and contributions. The University conferred this honorary doctorate as a recognition for his efforts in strengthening Cuban-Hungarian higher education relations, as well as his work in the field of international public law.

Dr Norbert Fogarasi, Managing Director of the Hungarian office of Morgan Stanley, was the guest of the "Spinoff Extra" series of events at Széchenyi István University, where he gave an inspiring talk about his life. A former chess champion in Canada, he shook hands with Bill Gates as an intern, helped to develop his firm in Tokyo and London, and then helped establish the Budapest office. In addition to business, he supports noble causes and, as a man of faith, emphasises the importance of service.

An international conference on sustainable mobility and transport, co-organised by the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Vehicle Engineering and the Automotive Industry Research Centre at Széchenyi István University, brought together automotive researchers and industry experts to present their latest findings. The three-day event featured participants from the US, France, Italy, Germany among others.
SZE Supports Graduation Success with "Mathematics 0" Course
At first glance, it might seem like an additional requirement, but the "Mathematics 0" course introduced by Széchenyi István University in several degree programmes from the spring semester serves to fill gaps in fundamental numeracy skills, thereby facilitating successful completion of foundational and professional subjects. Essentially, the institution offers free tutoring to students, allowing them to earn their degree in three and a half years with greater confidence, without incurring extra costs for themselves or their families.

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Gyaneshwar Puri, a monk from the Vishwaguru Deep Ashram Research Centre in India, delivered a lecture to the students of Széchenyi István University on the topic of healthy living, the five-thousand-year-old tradition of Ayurveda healing methods, and the philosophy of yoga.

SZE Students Triumph with Bosch×Richter Industrial Innovation Award
Two students from Széchenyi István University, Fanni Lőrincz and Balázs Szőnyi, have developed a solution based on artificial intelligence models that allows the user to talk to the device as if it were a living human being. Their aim was primarily to help socially isolated people and people with mental illnesses and to prevent the development of such illnesses. Their application recently won the BoschxRichter Gedeon Industrial Innovation Award.

SZE Design Campus Makes Debut at Budapest Design Week
Budapest Design Week is an event of international importance, presenting all areas of the Hungarian design profession, which will be organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency from 10 to 20 October this year. American Professors at SZE: Fulbright Scholars Visit Győr
The world-renowned Fulbright Scholarship, which this semester brought 32 US professors to Hungary, was recently hosted by Széchenyi István University in Győr, Hungary, together with the Hungarian-American Fulbright Commission. Experts from Széchenyi István University participated in the early October conference held in Budapest, where the University’s students were recognized in the organisation's talent programme. For the first time, the Cultural Engineering Award, established in memory of the institution's former lecturer, Dr Péter Scharle, was also presented during the event.

Széchenyi István University Students Excel at WorldSkills 2024
Three students from Széchenyi István University participated in the WorldSkills Championships. Bianka Dely, in the Graphic Design Technology category, and Roland Izsó, who finished fourth in the Industry 4.0 category, won a medal of excellence, while Péter Losonczi was among the best in the Electrical Installations category.

SZE Dragon Boat Team Secures Silver at National University Championships
The second round of the Hungarian University-College National Championship (MEFOB) dragon boat competition was held recently in Székesfehérvár. The team of Széchenyi István University performed very well once again, just like in the first round in Győr, and finished second overall in both the 200 and 2000 m races. Several competitors of the University of Győr are already preparing for the World Cup in China.
SZE Teacher Trains WorldSkills Championship Competitor in Automobile Technology
Péter Őri, a staff member of Széchenyi István University, prepared Bence Tánczos, a student of the Lukács Sándor Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Technical School in Győr, who won a medal of excellence in the Automobile Technology category at the WorldSkills World Championship of the world's best young professionals. A former Hungarian entrant in the competition, who is now a student of the Vehicle Engineering programme at the University, aided him as well.
SZE Professor Recieves Top Hungarian Statistics Award
In recognition of his outstanding professional work, Dr Tamás Dusek, head of the Doctoral School of Regional Sciences at Széchenyi István University, has recently received the Elek Fényes Award, the most prestigious award in the field of statistics. The professor at the Kautz Gyula Faculty of Business and Economics has been conducting research for nearly thirty years and continues to assist the Department of Statistics, Finance and Controlling as a lecturer.
Focus on road safety: Széchenyi István University hosts international conference
Széchenyi István University has successfully organized the Road Safety Conference for the second time in collaboration with its partners, an event which was launched a year ago with the aim of establishing a tradition. Starting this academic year, the introduction of a reporting week at Széchenyi István University offers additional flexibility and planning options for both lecturers and students. This week will allow more time for making up missed classes, practical sessions and in-class tests, or, in the case of project-based subjects, for the reports as well.

SZE Team Driver Takes Silver at Italian Go-Kart Championship
Széchenyi István University is striving to become the number one higher education institution in Hungary in the field of motor sports. In this spirit, the Uni Győr WMS go-kart team was established at the beginning of the year, and its driver, Vilmos Willisits Jr., has been on the podium in six races of the Italian Easykart Championship this year, finishing second overall.
